Topic: power metal example Posted: June 01 2006 at 13:27 |
for those who don't understanf the notion of power metal, here is a perfect example:
characterized by extremely thundering bass drums & bass, and razor, clean, aggressive & powerful metal riffs:
in other words, a very little number of bands can be categorized as power metal.

Man Overboard allmost fooled me once trying to prove that Mick Pointer is one of the most skilled drummers on earth...
But you shall not!
Thats not power metal. Neither American power metal, nor European power metal.

ok, maybe the sound is not good enough to clearly show impellitteri is power metal...
just try to hear a good quality source.

No. There are several options: - You think that Impelliteri are Power Metal
- You think that most Power Metal bands suck, Impelliteri are better
- something completely different
Please tell!

no!
the title speaks by itself:
people seem to put every metal band in the power metal category; they do not realize or understand that there are some strict requirements, as i have explained above! I wanted to give an example in order to help people have a better discernment!

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Power Metal is a bit more diverse than you try to make us believe here. For a start, there's European Power Metal and American Power Metal. And Impelliteri are commonly not categorized as Power Metal ...

Few comments: First; that Impellitteri song was nowhere near Power metal. Secondly; it didn't have clean aggressive powerful metal riffs or thundering bass. More like uninspired, uninteresting, unimportant 80s style guitar playing and plain boring drumming. Didn't hear much of the bass but that's because of the sound quality. And finally; you're way off saying "a very little number of bands can be categorized as power metal." That's simply not true. A very narrowminded comment IMO.
