Progressive Biography

Age: (38)

My story with progressive rock:
Progressive rock is a complex music genre. Because I like sophisticated things, I appreciate very much progressive music, especially when there are plenty of modern keyboards and complex patterns. I like old 70's stuff, 80's stuff and the more modern stuff, say neo progressive. I also like very much modern New Age music, which IMO has something to do with great keyboards patterns in the progressive music. My best wish would be to find prog bands that are inspired from prog band IQ: indeed the albums "Subterranea", "Ever" and "Seventh House" have the perfect prog style: emotional, complex, sentimental, structured and accessible music. In other words, a modern version of GENESIS, a complementary band to MARILLION.

There are tons of prog bands that I have to know, but I think I have a good background, especially the 70's stuff. I've been listening to prog music since 1980!! I started with RUSH, YES and GENESIS. They still rule! I like very much metal too, especially metal of the eighties. Jazz and fusion are excellent style which are always good to appreciate. Finally, I NEVER listen to hip hop, rap and alternative rock, so I don't like to be bothered with bands like RADIOHEAD, ALICE IN CHAINS, Britney SPEARS or EMINEM, if you see what I mean...

Collection of original progressive cds: mostly vinyls
