Would it be a stretch to add Nick Drake to Prog Folk?

I support this addition:
First was one of the few folk players that adventure to play in differents tunings. His work have progressive folk connotations, specially Cello Song and Three Hours. For 1969, five leaves left was a landmark album. I will think more and return. and also support John Fahey, Vahsti Buyan, Peter Lang, and Robbie Bashio! |

I support this too. IMO his guitar playing is progressive, what with the weird tunings/time signatures/arpeggios. Take "River Man" for example. Or "Road" from Pink Moon. Some pretty hairy stuff.

Also his chord progressions are very non-conventional with a heavy jazz influence. |

Absolutely. When I think unconventional chord progressions, I think Nick Drake. "Fruit Tree" has some really strange ones. "Parasite" comes to mind too. So rich. A lot of people love Nick Drake for his voice particularly, but I was immediately drawn to his guitar playing. (Love his voice too though.) |

There's been a very recent discussion about Nick Drake in the collabs zone. He was rejected for prog-folk and the general opinion is still no. Unusual tunings are not a sufficient reason for inclusion.

"The single artistes in folk rock became known as Folk Troubadours were also numerous and often presented a more progressive side of folk: AL STEWART, NICK DRAKE, ROY HARPER, TYRANOSAURUS REX (actually a duo of Steven Took and Marc Bolan) , JOHN MARTYN etc."

One of the greatest songwriters of 20th century Nick Drake (RIP) ought to be in Prog Folk section. This suggestion would to be understood.
