An excellent choice, mate - that is sheer quality (just off my top 3 Zappa list)

Music doesn't get much better then "Penguin In Bondage" and "Don't You Ever Wash That Thing?".

Only 5!
1. King Crimson (especially Red, Discipline and Lizard)
2. GonG (especially the Radio Gnome Trilogy, Shamal and Camembert Electrique)
3. Zappa (especially Hot Rats, Roxy & Elsewhere and The Grand Wazoo)
4. Tool (especially Lateralus and Aenima)
5. Can (especially Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Future Days)
I could also fit Primus, Ayreon, Yes, Opeth and the Ozrics into the Top 10, but i can't think of an order...

All lists in no specific order
Old prog:
Rush
Jethro Tull
Pink Floyd
King Crimson
Frank Zappa
New prog:
Porcupine Tree
Flower Kings
Spock's Beard
Tool
Opeth
Rock/Metal:
Enslaved
Windir
Nile
Monster Magnet
Kyuss
If I were to narrow it down to just 5 bands total, it would probably be Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Opeth, Rush and Nile.
