One relationship between this case and Che Guevara Ts is that one of the Pussy Riot girls was wearing a 'No Pasaran' T Shirt at the trial. It seemed rather odd that she was allowed to do this! (No direct relationship between No Pasaran and Che though, just that they were both political Ts).

If they had done this in Cuba, they would have been jailed for life !
I remember seeing a documentary about Cuba, and there was a punk rock band that had to play in secret by fear of denouncement from neighbours (like in Poland during the state of war, there are citizens in Cuba who watch their neighbours and report to authorities any "suspect" activity).
A lot of artists (poets, musicians...) are jailed in Cuba for their anti-authority position. Unfortunately, none of our beloved musicians react towards this repression.

I mean, everyone knows that Russia is a repressive country, we are not born yesterday, so why don't we dare look at other countries that seem repressive to their citizens only.

I'm sure you are right that if they had done this in Cuba they would have got life. Equally in other countries they would have just 'disapeared' ,and just playing music of any type would have got them in this situation.
Russia gets the press exactly for the reason Snow Dog states and because of the power Putin wields outside Russia (as well as inside). What influence does Cuba have?

I know that maybe these pop stars could say something about other dictatorships.  However, I think they usually get sl*g.ed off whatever!  Either for not talking about politics or for talking about politics.

Jesus, are you people thick or what? Here's the relation Che has with this whole thing:

1 - retarded people think he was a freedom fighter
2 - said people usually idolize him and have all kind of memorabilia with his face on
3 - wearing a shirt with his face on is considered kewl because his cause was "noble"
4 - he fought against capitalism and its excesses (consumism included)
5 - he was against freedom of expression
6 - he was a racist towards black people (after he returned from his gerrilla time in Africa)
7 - he supported and was supported by totalitarian socialist regimes
8 - people use Che as a toke, a symbol in order to fight oppressive regimes of all sorts

It's a paradox, an oxymoron. I can't believe you guys are actually this oblivious.

Now those three idiots have joined the cause. Ok now it,s when freedom will be well served.

I should google and see if any of them have ever worn a murderer-Che shirt....

I'm not sure to see the relationship between that Pussy Riot case and the Che Guevara fashion... Confused

Anyway, if we could focus on the sole Pussy Riot turmoil, maybe things could be a bit clearer for everyone.

Oh, and may Bachar El-Assad live long.

Well, when Danone changed the brand name of BIO yoghurt to Activia, they used to repeat in their commercials : "nothing changed apart from the brand name". You could apply this to Russia : you change the name of the country, you give independency to some republics that were appended to the country, but the institutions remain the same and leaders are ex-communists or their sons.

So, I repeat : what did you expect from a country lead by an ex-KGB spy ?

As with China, nothing can surprise me coming from Russia.

Excessive, excessive... Maybe invading a church and disturbing a mess isn't exactly being polite, but it's rather tame compared to 60/70's Actionnism (google it at your own risks!), even if they claimed to be influenced by this movement.

Oh, by the way, from what I read, Peter Hammill, Peter Gabriel and Genesis support them.

I agree, I'm not sure why people are trying to turn this into a debate about how some stars might have worn Che ts in the past or not voiced opinions about other Dictators. I guess they should keep their noses out of this then.

Anyway, whatever they did 2 years is excessive, apparently Putin is a Beatles fan so he might turn it round to make himself look the hero but I guess it depends how it plays at home.

So that's what Pussy Riot is. Hmm...I somehow care about it less now.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

I hate when people living in "western"countries talk about how  life was good in countries with communist government. My parents left Poland during the Jaruzelski years, mainly because my father was jailed for having given his opinion on the government's politics (yes, freedom of speech was banned).

And I hate even more people who wear T-shirts or other goods bearing the face of the terrorist Che Guevera (a physician who kills people, isn't that inconsistent ?).

Most of today's musical businessmen/women as you mentioned supported the "red" governments (understand communism) and now they protest against the decision taken in a country conducted by people who previously had key functions in the communist USSR.
these personalities have a short memory or they are there only to show people that they are still present and their "good actions" will therefore increase their album sales

where were they when Bachar el Assad murdered (and continues to murder) his citizens ?

Honestly, I've never heard of Bachar al-Assad until you mentioned him.
