I'm quite familiar with Alice Munro and Doris Lessing from college days, but I voted for Kazuo Ishiguro. "Never Let Me Go" is one of my very favourite novels of this millennium, and it is one of my favourite novels period. Cormac McCarthy's The Road is another particular favourite (and I love Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake series).
Had you gone back to 1998 and 1999, then two other of my favourites were Nobel Prize winners in Literature: Günter Grass and José Saramago. Edited by Logan - February 15 2018 at 11:34 |

I have read something from all of them, but only two of them are among my favourite authors: short story master Alice Munro, and last year's winner Kazuo Ishiguro.
