I like the idea of this one album bands (even more if this album turns out to be really good), because they have this sense of mistery...you want to know more, listen more about them...not the same, but I have that feeling with Anglagard (which Im listening now) whom only realesed two stufio albums...the first one being so painfully good...

Yes, I was really into that album a while back. Some of those tracks, the first two for example, were really strong, but I felt that only about half the record was up to that level. |

A especial shout goes to the italian band Celeste and their album
Principe di giorno. A very nice melodic soft italian prog that reminds
me at times Isalnds by KC.

I don't think one should be so keen on labeling Kino as a one-album band, since the album was released merely last year, thus having it only natural there are no other creations from the band, unless, of course, the project has come to an end with Picture and I failed to perceive that information, all of which I would apologise for questioning, then. |

Well, seems like most of people didn't read the topic properly because
he would like to know why a band is transcedental, not just name them.
I will not name any band because no one band is transcendental or essential to progressive rock. Even Yes, Genesis and so on. All of them are itens in a collection, if you have a collection. Some bands can have influenced lots of others, but that doesn't mean that these bands wouldn't make progressive rock if Genesis or Yes hadn't existed. So you won't lose something so great if you never listen to a one-shot band or even a band who has released many albuns. If you listen to them and find them great, good. If not, enjoy the ones you already have. For sure you will never be without good music to listen. |

I like One-Shot bands. If the album is incredible, you have no worry, comparing it with leasty incredible from the same band(on the other hand, you'll never heard ANYHTING from that band...if to think they could do something better). If JETHRO TULL had been an One-Shot band with only one release(TAAB I mean) ,I'd love 'em more than CAMEL!!! The same considers TOOL's "Lateralus"
Have to add: TALE CUE "Voices beyond my Curtain" - almost excellent! AD INFINITUM "Ad Infinitum" IL TRONO DEL RICORDI "Il Trono del Ricordi" (that's the case when I'd like to hear something more from these guys! ) BABYLON "Babylon" VILOET DISTRICT "Terminal Breath" SENSITIVA IMMAGINE "E Tutto Comincio Cosi" JANISON EDGE "The Serveces of Mary Goode" CASINO "Casino" (Nolan's project) BTW,Kyrie Eleison has two albums. And both on my wishlist!!! If I had an opportunity to record and release my music as frequent as Roine Stolt does ,I'd make dozens of One-Shot Projects (like MORTE MACABRE)!!!! Edited by Prog-jester |

do you mean you missed their 2nd and 3rd releases - over 20 years after the first? And about a year ago somebody wrote in about an earlier album by the same (or most of) the same line-up. |

There is band: "Dali's Dilemma", they released only one album called "Manifesto for futurism". They have a defying Prog Metal Chaotic sound. Recommended for prog metal lovers ad for people who love complex music. Not recommended for symphonic prog listeners or too conservative people... |
