Not true, he's stated in an interview that the Cardiacs are never touring again (due to Tim's health, I assume). |

I have no idea why you would say that. You don't even know me.

What I've heard recently ( The debut) I quite like. So you are correct and Cardiacs get my vote.

Cardiacs without hesitation.
I like Magma, but never was as crazy about them as about Cardiacs. |

Magma. I can understand why people love the Cardiacs so much, but they've never done it for me (even though Guapo axeman Kavus Torabi is in the current touring line up).

It's a good indication of their early stuff but their later albums (including the much lauded Sing to God) is a very VERY different kettle of fish. This video is a perfect example of their more sober, less frenetic side: I adore both of these bands and couldn't imagine living without either, but My Loyalty Demands. Cardiacs it is. Cardiacs for me.
I've been listening to them for a year now and they are still going strong. Here is my favorite of their videos: As for Magma, I only started listening to them somewhere around the release of Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré so I still have a lot of ground to uncover. Edited by Rune2000 - August 31 2010 at 18:16 |

I tend to agree with this sentiment, the vocals are a huge turn off for me, I dislike them greatly. I really don't find the music interesting enough to endure those vocals either. The Cardiacs are not a terrible band by any means, but they're not one that I reach for very often at all. Edited by Evolutionary Sleeper - August 31 2010 at 17:48 |

Cardiacs are a band I feel like I should like, but for some reason don't. Their sound (re: his voice) really grates on me after a couple songs.
Magma on the other hand... |

I think you might like Cardiacs, at least I hope so. Have a listen to this: There's lots of music at youtube. |

Yeah, it wasn't even reading the review that got me to listen to it again, but I saw the album art and felt like listening to it. As I was listening the other day, I did read the review though, and enjoyed it.

I knew Cardiacs' music before joining PA, but Trouserpress' abundant enthusiasm got me into exploring it more after I joined PA. I don't often look at PA reviews , but I have noted that Rune has written good reviews of much music I really like. I had read Alexander's (Rune2000) review of Sing to God before because there was a topic where someone was, as I recall, slamming Cardiacs and I was looking up the reviews of the albums (perhaps there was a reported review for Sing to God? A few years ago I would have remembered such things easily, but my memory loss is another topic. Maybe I was just looking into some rater's ratings since a low rating of something piqued my interest). |

Then either would probably be a good starting point. If you're going for cost-effectiveness (in case you don't like the band or something) I'd say A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window since it's only one disc and therefore only $9.99 on iTunes instead of StG's two discs and 2x $9.99. |
