Well, I've only heard the songs on the Archives (unfortunately).  My favorite is Sleepwalkers, these guys are excellent.

*Yes, I'm serious.

Honorable mention: Nutter Alert!

I love Meurglys, especially the last few minutes of jamming. Hammill plays such a weird guitar there.

I know! It's basically VDGG-does-reggae... AND IT WORKS!! I love that track.

Meurglys III is a great tune( although I love the beginning and wouldn't mind seeing the last 3-4 minutes chopped off, but hey...at least we agree about it being a good tune. )and World Record is truly under-rated. It is probably the heaviest of VdGG's material...even more so than Godbluff.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

'Still Life' the vocal dexterity alone wins it for me.Any would be singers should try and wrap their larynxes around this.

"WONDERING"

Whenever I'm in a rut I just need to listen to Peter singing along with the regal chord progression of this song to pull me out of it.  The song works more magic than any self-motivation speaker on Earth.  I must triumphantly pump my fist in the air while listening to this hymn.  If you've never heard this tune, download the MP3 from this great website and be prepared to conquer your conquests.

From what I've heard so far....

A Louse is Not a Home- Peter Hamill (basically VDGG, has most of the members)

The Emperor in his War Room

Killers

Modern- Peter Hamill

Forsaken Gardens - Peter Hamill

I haven't yet heard "A Plague of the Lighthouse Keepers", but I should be getting Pawn Hearts very soon.

Meurglys III, Killer, Plague of Lighthouse Keepers, House with no Door.

Apart from those, VDGG is one of the few bands where I can treat all their songs pretty much equally, and thats equally well.
Can you tell me where my country lies...
