Maybe you should first decide whether you're sure about it before you try to convert people ... there's a pretty strong consensus among prog metal fans that their debut is not their best album. But there's no arguing about taste, is there?

Off topic but anyway:

I long though that DT was high above anybody else, I was indeed a big DT fan. I've listened to WDADU alot, and it's among the three albums that periodically take turns as being the best DT ever made (the others being Images & Words and Awake). So Mr.Burns, you are not alone!

Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

I've liked Shadow Gallery ever since I bought Carved In Stone completely at random in.. 1998 I think. I have never got over the cheesiness though, it's pops up here and there, but it's kind of charming in the end.

For all of you who have one or two albums, you won't be disappointed with the rest, they have a very solid discography.

Favourite tracks: First Light, Roads of Thunder, Crystalline Dream
Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

Just our of curiousity, dear lady, which album is that? The reason for me asking is that I'm trying to comprehend how anyone can "admire something very much" being based on only 1 CD. And what is that in this particular albums which made you fall in love with the band immediately, if you don't mind me asking???

As for myself - I have all of their albums and quite like some of them, but I'm being far from any admiration - just good quality prog-metal...with all usual ups and downs

Obviously she wanted to say she admired this one album - I don't see any reason why this harmless imprecision should attract (negative?) attention.

On topic - I only own "Legacy", and if it's supposed to be their weakest album then I'm really missing out on something big

hi Uther,

I would suggest trying either ebay or amazon for Tyranny...a copy will come up sooner or later

I've just looked on Amazon, and there is one copy in the UK for £13.81 through recordshop.net at the moment...

Ireally like them alot...  I own Tyranny and Carved in Stone.  I like Tyranny just a bit better, but they both are great albums from a great band, I am soon planning to get some more stuff from them...

Colors is one of their lighter songs ... you might like Carved in Stone, their second album.

My eyes are open, not to worry. I've listened more than enough to all the Dream Theater albums ... they're one of my favorite bands.

My favorite album is Awake, followed by Scenes and I&W.

BTW: Check out the Symphony X debut if you don't know it already ... amazing album!

One have to remember that the album is 13 years old.And it is also a debut album. And i think maybe thats the problem witj the other albums, theyre overproduced. It sounds almost like film music, and also to much ballads. But hey, thats only my opinion. How do you guys feel about drem theaters debut album?

The other albums are fine - their debut was actually a demo, recorded on semi-professional equipment.

The DT debut is quite good ... but I really prefer Awake over ANY other DT album.

Well said, I absolutely agree. "Scenes From A Memory" is maybe their most ambitious record they've ever done, but "Awake" contains something very special (Kevin Moore)
