Taurus II comes close to crises for me, although I think Music from the Balcony is excellent ( not many do!!)

I love Music From The Balcony. Its so evocative. Sounds like a balcony in Kenya. Was Mike ever there?
I have to say I love all the pieces here very much and I'm finding it very difficult to vote for one over any other, although Crises is the obvious one. Edited by Snow Dog - March 20 2007 at 05:11 |

From the list Taurus just edges Crises, although both are great pieces.

Strange that this poll should appear at this time - just so happens that I have been listening to "Five Miles Out" on a very regular basis of late - Tauris II gets my vote in this poll

Crises beats Taurus, but it wasn't easy.

Both Wind Chimes and Crises have their moments. The flute part(J:son-Lindh!) on Wind Chimes and the "drumsolo"-part(Simon Phillips) are great and good collaborations, maybe something rare when it comes to Oldfields albums. Still I think Taurus II is the best choice in this poll. A very good example of what Oldfield can do at his best. I particularly like the influences from folkmusic in Taurus mixed together with some heavier parts.

Sorry not to be a name dropper but my ex- brother in law, Andrew Longhurst assisted on keyboards on the Heaven's Open album. Apparently Music From The Balcony was a total " Mind&%$*" for all the session players as they never quite knew which direction MO was taking. It is for me an excellent follow up to Amarok, obviously way too short and if I am not mistaken some awesome drumming from Simon Phillips. The ' wildlife' sound effects give the whole song a drug induced feel!!!

Taurus II, if it's on the taste of accurately light.
Crises is very good as well, maybe just its pop slides make out the difference of music and stirr. The Wind Chimes is quite atmospheric and tight-fitting, but has a lose sense and a free-spirit saying little. Islands, is overall, the missed thing of a good composition. Music For The Balcony is minimal schrapnel sound disaster to my years. |

Amarok Mike Oldfield Oldfield's most avat-garde, progressive rock album. I love it so much; its the only one i have by him

Very close between Crisis and The Wind Chimes. I enjoy both.
But, seeing as The Wind Chimes has no votes yet, I give it the first vote!

I can see that, but it is technically subdivided into shorter piecesd, so I decided against its inclusion. Sorry.
