Other comments: ...I got into progressive music around 1973, instantly latching on to the intricate melodies and technical prowess of the 'big' prog bands. Yes were the first one, then Genesis, Floyd and Rush. When the second generation came round, I embraced Marillion, and since then have added Pendragon, Porcupine Tree and the Flower Kings to my personal pantheon of 'prog gods'. I will give anything a listen once, although I cannot stand rap, country or hip hop. Otherwise, I have a very wide taste, embracing lots of styles from classical, through blues, to hard rock. Genesis were, for me, the ultimate band. Like most fans, I find all their material, from 1970 - 1977, fantastic. Although I admit to being biased in their favour, I, like many others, freely admit that after Steve Hackett left the band went too commercial and lost their identity. My 'replacement' band for Genesis is now Pendragon, who uphold the melodic prog banner amazingly well. Likewise, I love early Yes, and now like their descendants, The Flower Kings.
I am always on the lookout for new sounds and welcome this site for introducing me to new and excellent bands, such as Collage, Satellite, Cast and The Nightwatch/The Watch.
