I have to check if it's possible to have the same "service" in Europe/France. |

I love miRthkon's Vehicle so much. I distanced myself from it awhile back just cuz I was having a difficult time wrapping my head around it. I came back today, and, while i still can't wrap my head around it and probably never will, I'm just constantly enthralled by each audial inch. It feels like such a cohesive bunch of songs, all of them with their own aspects but with many connecting threads: for example, you can separate/group them in ways such as this:
totally f**kin awesome songs about animals or edible plants: 1. Banana 2. Coven of Coyotes 3. Honey Key Jamboree baaaanaaanaaaaa Edited by mecca - August 21 2009 at 22:35 |

As I've probably mentioned it already, Jean Louis's album is my pick for 2009. You should all try and check it out.

I found this French book a couple of days ago, excellent overview over the French experimental music scene from the 60's up to now, with a main focus on Avant Prog and RIO, very detailled and well written,

I've read it this winter. I thought doing a review in the adequate section, but I lacked time to write a full review in English.
I also met the author at a conference about Woodstock and the French 'pop' festivals of the 70's. Too bad Grimo wasn't here. |

Where in France did you find it, which store? I'm asking cause I'll ask someone in my family there ( they're in Paris) to buy it for me. |

I just finished the book, excellent! Have you read Au-delà du rock the book he wrote about German Prog? The other books from the Le mot et le reste edition look interesting too!
BTW Are you coming to the RIO festival ?

I am on holiday and I found it in a small alternative book shop down south, but you can find it on amazon.fr (see the link) or order it in every book Fench book shop. You will like it!

Yes, I did, as I also read Musiques Expérimentales by Philippe Robert (also published by Le Mot et le reste). They begin to have an interesting catalogue. About the RIO festival, I'm not sure to be able to come. Alas! |

to regress a year or so..... I know I was supposed to write a bio for the collective known as Biota; I tried to email them via their site to get some answers but did not get a reply. I have since ordered most of their material, after being highly impressed by their unconventional material.... Isn't it about time they be included in the Avant/RIO category? If need be, their bio could be lifted from this wikipedia post: It seems true from what I recall... (btw, a lot of their material just got reissued on ReR)

So I tried contacting a guy on the official Biota site (again) about getting a bio, we'll see if he follows through....
