Yeah, me too. I remembered I once had a trio called "Triumph". But, it remains far from, the source, though...

Yeah, I've heard some Budgie. Judging from that, they kick ass. I guess I should check out more of their stuff!

Wow, this thread has exploded overnight!  Clap

Pavlov's Dog, I've heard that name before I'm sure. Unfortunately, all the YouTube videos except "Julia" are blocked "in my country". From what I can tell, at least the singer's voice is quite similar to Geddy's.

I'll check out the other recommendations, thanks everyone! And that there actually is a website called "bandslikerush.com" - ha! Smile

PS: I forgot to mention that at least one Wolfmother song strongly reminds me of very early Rush (I forget which one), though of course the simple explanation is that both were very strongly inspired by Led Zeppelin.

Coincidently I did a google search on Tiles and came across this website called Bands like Rush, that had an interview with Chris and Jeff from Tiles.  http://bandslikerush.com/interviews/tiles

French instrumental band Xang is incredible!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Well... The Mars Volta remind me of Rush sometimes... but by no means do I recommend them! LOL

Some other people like them, though.

LOL *snap* -- you got in a little faster. Different Pavlov's Dog songs, though, that we chose from youtube.

Or avoid Pavlov's Dog (though I prefer Surkamp's vocals to Lee's).

Love this song:

If you hate Geddy's vocals, then you may want to avoid "Coheed and Cambria".

Conversely, if you are *looking* for bands with a sound similar to Rush, C&C would be worth at least checking out IMO.

For what it's worth...  The Electrum album I mentioned is instrumental (no vocals).

The Andrew Gorczyca album features vocals that sound nothing like Geddy Lee at all.   Not shrill or nasal at all.  (Not that I particularly dislike vocals that pierce through the mix myself...  I actually sometimes prefer Geddy's high pitched 'nail scratches chalkboard' style to the more comfortable range he sings in these days but that is just me.  I can certainly see how some might dislike his vocals.)

Interestingly enough, neither of the two I mentioned border on the metallic side of things like Rush did at times either.

I thought everyone loved the Geddy 'He' Lee 'um'

Not bad for a spur of the moment pun

Guitarist finds drummer and bassist on a Rush mailing list and forms band named ELECTRUM.  Their debut "Frames of Mind" is interesting in that it is the most *minimalist* Rush imitation I've ever heard.  They reduce the Rush approach to a form of hard rock that during key stretches (more often than not) I can only describe as "melodically ambient".   Love it or hate it, there is no doubt that is is very RUSH inspired and *unique*.

Their 2nd album, "Standard Deviation" is a great step forward for the band in terms of composition and production.  But that first one projects a more singular identity and wears its RUSH influence more "on its sleeve" so to speak.

Andrew Gorczyca - Reflections - An Act of Glass
This guy was clearly a Rush fan IMO.  The music has its own character - a kind of 1980's prog vibe - so I don't consider it a Rush clone.  But I can't see how this music could possibly *not* have been inspired by Rush.
