I, personally, don't think so. Gorguts did used a lot of distortion and sounds that would be later used by the post thrash metal bands (AKA djen bands), but I don't think they are related.

I could be wrong in that matter, since those are not my favorite bands, with the exception of Meshugga, but AFAIK they don't have any correlation.

They even have Blotted Science there, which is the opposite of djent. Very loose. Even Canvas Solaris is there. Djent is one of these alleged genres that works well as a stylistic seasoning much better than a main dish. I enjoy those that incorporate it like 1980, Coprofago and Animals as Leaders rather than those who do one thing like Periphery. I was big into it for awhile, but it got old real fast.

For sure,djent is an amazing genre of metal.But as you say you are big into it for a while and then you leave from there.Canvas solaris is great band.When you say coprofago you mean the technical death/thrash metal band from Chile,right?)
