![]() Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"? |

^ I agree, I'm sure those 2 would make my top 20 RPI. |

Thanks! I waited for a long time before buying them as I wanted to find them at a good price

Heheh, top 10 or 20 RPI... difficult, I'm having a hard enough time picking my top 5 bands of the modern era. These are the guys that I'm listening to the most these days though:
Il Castello di Atlante (love the violin)
Finisterre (probably just edges Hostsonaten as my favourite Zuffanti project)
Malibran (my longstanding favourites)
Il Bacio della Medusa (primarily for that great second album)
Calliope (from his reviews I see torodd's been listening to these guys as well)

![]() Nice list, Chris! Although probably not in my top five modern RPI, Finisterre, Malibran and Calliope are wonderful bands. I was particularly impressed lately by Malibran's "Trasparenze" from last year. Really a nice album!
What Castello di Atlante albums do you enjoy most? Besides the most recent one I've really enjoyed "Come il seguitare delle stagioni."

Thanks Todd.
![]() Capitolo 7 - Tra Le Antiche Mura and Come Il Seguitare... are probably my two favourites. Capitolo 7 is one of the rare albums that I've given 5-stars in a review, while I love Massimo Di Lauro's violin playing on Come. Quintessenza is another fine album. Yep, great band!

I gave that one five stars as well. The first one I heard was "Sono io il signore delle terre a nord." It was okay, but I wasn't overly enthusiastic. But all of the albums beginning with "L'ippogriffo" have completely won me over!

I only own L'Ippogrifo and Quintessenza.
I like the latter a lot, while I find the first one quite boring...

1) Pooh - Viva (1979)
![]() 2) Il Tempio delle Clessidre - s/t (2010) ... I bought it only because of you, Todd, you are so enthousiast that I couldn't resist more... eh ehe heheh

I don't think Il Tempio delle Clessidre will disappoint you, Andrea. And a funny coincidence is I just ordered "Un Po' del Nostro Tempo Migliore" because of your recent review! I'll let you know what I think about it.

Well, I wouldn't put those two albums on the same plane (Il Tempio delle Clessidre and Un Po' del Nostro Tempo Migliore). And I hope to have correctly explained the nature of Pooh's records... eh ehe he h ... as I said, I won't give compensations... so keep your expectations at an average level... eheh eheh
BTW, I already listened to the first half of Il Tempio...'s album, wow... it sounds very 70s...!! Museo Rosenbach the return!!!! I like the voice of "Lupo" Galifi.
Again, on Un Po' del Nostro...: have you heard samples on youtube first?? eh eh ehe h ... tell me yes, please... ![]() Edited by Andrea Cortese - November 20 2010 at 09:38 |

Thank you
The double LP "Searching For A Land" is also a very good listen.
When I started collecting imports, Italian and German bands were my first choices.

What about Verità Nascoste, Gary?
It is my fave Le Orme's from the second half of the seventies.

I liked the keyboards and guitar but the hot bass sticks in my mind. The few vocals are in Italian. I also like Smogmagica from the previous year and the LP had a great poster that is hanging in my music room. |

Paul Whitehead made several excellent covers during the seventies (and also nowadays... see L'Infinito, Le Orme's latest album to date - 2004).
BTW, on about Pooh.
Their latest album DOVE COMINCIA IL SOLE (Where the Sun Begins) has just been released (end of october) and all the reviewers and fans are in big turmoil... Pooh go prog??
Just listen to the 11 mns self titled track (I'm afraid the proof is in the listening itself... eh eheh he

Thanks for the links, Andrea!
I don't have to have my Italian pure prog to enjoy it--in fact, some of my favorites I keep coming back to will probably never be featured on the site (Ciro Dammicco, for instance). I have Parsifal, and I think it's really good. So I'm sure I'll enjoy Un Po'.
How does their new album compare?
