A progressive metal band with an album due out digitally Worldwide on the 3rd October 2011.
The full album can be listened to here on Sound Cloud http://soundcloud.com/acid-empire/sets/acid-empire-full-album/

 Also info on the band:

Acid Empire is a project founded by contemporary composer Mike Bridge (Season's End). It is aimed as an expression of originality in song form, compositional style, instrumentation and lyrical content, trying to come up with something completely unique. The style includes sections of orchestral motifs, gripping dissonances and powerful resolutions. Underlying this is the compositional style of someone who is obviously influenced by the Metal genre.
The songs do away with traditional layout (i.e. verse chorus verse chorus) in favor of trying something new, there are still verse and chorus involved, but the songs resemble something more like a peice of classical music where the main melodies progress into new melodies throuought.
The first Single release, 'Only The Weak/Denial' were two songs written for the upcoming album which is currently in the recording proccess. The second single 'Would You Do It Again', which follows in the orchestral/metal style, was released summer 2010.

I submitted this band before but it was not taken as there was only a single released, and I was asked to re-submit once a full album release was ready. Well, here it is!

I'm really loving this - hopefully the band will sail through the evaluation! - Mike Bridge, who is the driving force behind Acid Empire, is also the bass player in another band that I really enjoy called Season's End. They tend to go for more extensive use of female vocals than Acid Empire do, and their music is more akin to that of the Gothic metal bands such as Nightwish, Epica, After Forever etc. For anyone interested they have been around since 1998, though with several line-up changes since then, have had a full length album out since 2005 ("The Failing Light"), are currently in the process of recording their second, & their website is: http://www.seasons-end.com/, (myspace: http://www.myspace.com/seasonsend). I'm going to start another thread for them later today with more info, samples etc. - 'cos they've never been evaluated on progarchives to the best of my knowledge, and they deserve a chance. Female fronted melodic symphonic metal tends to go down like a lead balloon on here, but it's not dissimilar to Acid Empire in places - just depends if anyone detects any sprinklings of prog amongst it, I guess. "The Failing Light" had a quite positive review in The Dutch Progressive Rock Page (DPRP) "Prog Metal Special" (2004: Vol 65) http://www.dprp.net/reviews/200465.html#seasonsend, so there may be an outside chance.  Ermm

Edit: Oops! - Just had a quick look at theelectricmike's profile, and his real name is given as...Mike Bridge! Could this be a 10 trillion to one coincidence, or is it the same Mike Bridge? I'd best wait for any replies he might post before going ahead with suggesting Season's End...Embarrassed

Hey it is indeed the same Mike Bridge! That's not against the rules is it? Suggesting your own band? Heheh well very sorry if it is!
Season's end will definately be in the prog pages before long. Our new material lends towards Progressive Metal far more than our last album, so you may as well suggest SE as well as Acid Empire! If you are interested in hearing some of our newer material we actually made a promo of some of the newer tracks that was given out at Bloodstock. (though not including our most proggy stuff *top secret!*) I'd be happy to send yuo a copy in the post if you'd like to hear it, I think I have 1 left on my desk so let me know!

Suggesting your own band is certainly not against the rules, and indeed actively encouraged! No one is better qualified to supply info about, and samples of, a new band's music than its members (and particularly the band's founder!) so thanks very much for doing so! The new Season's End material sounds very promising indeed, and I'd love a copy of the promo CD...Sadly if there's only one left you'd best save it for the guys on here who do the actual evaluating - I'm only someone who loves his music and joins in the forums I'm afraid! - I guess I'll have to wait for the finished article!! Violin

I'll suggest Season's End now anyway - one prog site has already reviewed their original album, and I think there might just about be enough prog in it to satisfy the folks that matter on here...especially with the newer more proggy stuff on the way too. No harm in trying, anyway...!! Smile

Thanks for suggesting anyway! I think I have a couple more copies at home, so if you PM me your address then I could post a copy off to you, and if anyone else from the reviews team wants one let me know and I can get one off to them too Smile.

Acid Empire
has not been approved for Progressive Metal. We see it as a Symphonic Metal act.
So I've added the band for you to our sister site MMA.
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/acid-empire.aspx

As you'll see I'm missing some info's. Could you submit a band picture, tracklist, line-up and release info?
You can do that here, I'll add it on the other side.
