There is something about Love Beach that enthralls me.  Officer and a Gentleman is heart wrenching. One of those times that the lyrics by Sinfield actually works on an understandable level.  Straight forward story without the puffery of the past (as he did with :Pirates, too).  Lake's voice is spot on with the song. Emerson is restrained and yet majestic, especially the last few minutes with  the march -it fits so well.

Palmer is not bombastic and still shows he is one of the best percussionist in any genre.

Canario is bright and wonderful.

The title song has Lake singing like he rarely does, with conviction and not restrained.  Many have said this is really a Greg Lake album.

There is not really a daft song in the bunch.

Same here, except I'll substitute Big Generator. Final Eyes, I'm Running, Rhythm Of Love, Shoot High Aim Low beat On The Silent Wings Of Freedom, Future Times/Rejoice, Onward, and Madrigal.

Love Beach's longer songs showed that the ELP boys still had some punch left in their songwriting chopsClap. And Lake was still in fine form, vocally. The rest of the albums listed have the ability to hurt my ears.

Big Generator. And it's not a relative statement like "I like it more than the others", no, I like it in itself, great piece of progressive pop-rock music, **** album for me. Smile

Love Beach is a decent album with a horrible cover and name so it gets my vote.

Tormato's Don't Kill The Whale is awesome my 2. favourite Yes song. But I still can't understand why it's so underrated. Circus of Heaven is an.... "acceptable" song, it's not bad enough to spoil the whole album!

Big Generator is a bit pop oriented, but I think it's excellent. Shoot High Aim Low and Holy Lamb, for example, are two Yes classics, to me. I don't understand why people don't appreciate this album. Ok, it's not the same Yes as in the seventies : other lineup, other music. But what a music !

On the other hand, I recently bought Union, but I can't enter in it. This album has no 'soul'.

Wrapped Tomatos
...this could to to the unite chefs tread.

Voted Tull, but the Yes is a very good album too. Circus it a bit too much Anderson on a "Mind" trip, otherwise a good album.

It may be a big step down from what they did in the past, but I don't think Abacab is at all a bad album.

Abacab.  I think it is a far better album than most people give it credit for.  Some decent pop tunes along with three really great prog songs.  Certainly it isn't Foxtrot or SEBTP, but the band still had some good writing in them at that point.

BTW, In the Hot Seat should have been called On the Toilet.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
