Not gonna lie...it's a little freakin' retarded how much I love Genesis. I can go on for days reciting my pure, unbridled enthusiasm for this band both Gabriel and Collins eras. :) |

I make mine your words in the third item, and that's nice you have so much passion (better said LOVE) for a LEGENDARY band like Genesis, but man... You forgot some nice songs from "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway"... |

Speaking only of their early years with Gabriel...
My top 5 favorite songs: 1. Supper's Ready 2. The Musical Box 3. Dancing with the Moonlit King 4. Watcher of the Skies 5. The Return of the Giant Hogweed 5 things I like about them 1. Their classical/ European elements 2. Their colaberation of individual incredible talents, all great musicians/ Gabriel is a great singer 3. Steve Hackett's guitar style (so great, I had to have it as a separate reason)- out of this world! His work is very thoughtful. He plays certain notes I wouldn't expect to hear. It's all new and outstanding to me. It was kind-of the same way with David Gilmour when I first got into Pink Floyd. Hackett's material is even more unique to my ears. 4. "Foxtrot" is an amazing album. It features some of their best and most moving music, incredible talents, and quite a few different weird time signatures. 5. Their prog. simplest way I can put it. prog means everything to me. it's my guide as a musician and a strong belief, almost a religion 5 of their contributions to prog: 1. Epics, such as "Supper's Ready" 2. Very unique song structures, no matter how long they are 3. Complex time signatures 4. Influenced other prog bands, such as Rush 5. Showed (for a period of time) that you can have an audience that will sit quietly and actually listen to your music

1. The Musical Box
2. Entangled 3. Get 'Em Out by Friday 4. Watcher of The Skies 5. Supper's Ready 6. I Know What I Like Its really hard not to say something about Genesis that hasn't already been said. They're such a different band, in a good unique way. The theatrical themes, Gabriel's onstage theatrics and costumes, the musicianship and over all talent of the band itself and in some ways they were innovative and a bit ahead of their time. A few songs like The Musical Box, Return of The Giant Hogweed, and Dancing With The Moonlit night are borderline Metal (at least in my eyes) and in the case of Hogweed and Moonlit Knight Steve Hackett was one of the first guitarists to use the tapping technique. Steve even often claims that Eddie Van Halen told him he picked up the technique after he saw a Genesis concert. |

Wooooo you got me! I did not know that. Didn't even know it was a 2 parter, but considering its 9+mins long I can see how that would be logical. I'm surprised I missed that. I feel kinda stupid. Lol |

I couldn't agree more, but I think you mean 'One For The Vine.' But, One For The Wine sounds like a great theme song for a ravaging alcoholic. |
