He'll be standing by

woooooow

I think you got dt and Pos mixed up man

Well, if you actually understood those lyrics you would know that there is much more to what appears to be in there...      go to :  www.dtfaq.com and see for yourself what  that song is about... you may be surprised by how more complex it really is.

Dream Theater made me listen to Rush,Yes, ELP, Genesis.. That must count for something!

It's like saying Dream Theater and Vanden Plas are almost the same because 'some' of the guitar riffs sound the same.

When you read my post again, you'll see that I was just explaining that while some parts almost sound identical to DT, SyX as a band is completely different.

I gather that from your nick name ... but it can be really depressing and I can understand when people complain about that.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

That's on OHbtCL, isn't it? This is definitely the PoS album for polyrhythmic maniacs

The neoclassical ideas are executed similarly, but as somoene else said, there's a lot more of it - and much more power metal, and indeed metal in general, in Symphony X's sound (maybe that makes them less varied and more one-dimensional? ). There is quite a marked difference between the two -  even if you took the vocals off, if I heard a whole song I'm pretty sure I'd know which it was.

Heaven's Cry? metal-archives is down so I can't find a link to their site... anyone got one?

He definitely has a point ... listen to The Looking Glass, and if you're a DT fan you'll have a deja vu during the intro. Honestly, you'll think "Is that Myung playing there?".

Maiden:  There already appears to be an underlying hate around this forum surrounding Dream Theater.  By "bashing" POS predominantly because others bash DT just shows you up to be immature.

Maybe you should listen to more albums by POS rather than simply focusing your efforts on one.  I'm not the biggest fan of POS either, but I still intend to get quite a few of their albums before making my mind up completely.  It's possible to like both bands, you know.

And I see very little resemblences between Dream Theater and Symphony X.
