I'm probably partial to early stuff by Return to Forever (Chick Corea), Headhunters (Herbie Hancock), and Weather Report (Joe Zawinul). Those three probably set the Rhodes standard until they got sidetracked with synths. Al Stewart's Year of the Cat has a lot of nice Rhodes on it.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.
I've been on a Rhodes kick of late....the Rhodes makes even Bob James and Deodato sound good! Still, the king of the Rhodes was Herbie, especially on the third and fourth Mwandishi albums.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Was that a rhodes somewhere in the first half of Supper's Ready or some other electric piano? It's the same instrument that's on Riders on the storm but I'm not positive it's a rhodes.

I prefer a Wurlitzer e-piano - though Rhodes produces an awesome sound. I would say 'Riders On The Storm' (Doors) and 'Sheep' (Floyd) but many Canterbury acts utilise Rhodes - Soft Machine (after their 'Fourth' album, since Ratledge used a Hohner Pianet until their 'Fifth' album). Alan Gowen also loved his Rhodes piano.
