I guess I always thought you were indifferent to KD in the past so seeing this year's release top your list was a big surprise! But it seems to be winning quite a few people over I noticed David also said it was the first KD album to really hit that sweet spot.

For once I have an easy answer to that challenge - as far as I'm concerned: Major Parkinson's "Twilight Cinema" |

Every day I make those small, but illuminating discoveries: looks like Kayo Dot is not the same as Kaipa .. good to know

^Oh good grief, they couldn't be further apart if they tried!
Have you tried their 2010 album Coyote? Of all their albums it's the most similar to CoI in terms of feel, though it's a bit less laid back and a lot more melancholic. |

You're in for quite the journey, if there's one thing that can be said for KD, it's that almost no two albums sound alike (Gamma Knife is rather like Hubardo, but was recorded live with guitars overdubbed in studio). |

New to the Top of my list: Antoine Fafard's Ad Perpetuum.
Amazing album! Blends Jaco's Weather Report with Holdsorth's Bruford with Percy Jones's Brand X with a little of Joni Mitchell's jazzier side, Pat Metheny's jazzier side, and Hiromi's Sonicbloom's awesome side. Vinnie Colaiuta is jawbreakingly mesmerizing throughout the album. One of the best whole-album drum performances ever!!

Logos, Corvus Stone or Mostly Autumn.
Dressed in Voices is spectacular! I will decide at the last second.

For me it's between Opeth (Pale Communión) and Astrolabio (L'Isolamento Dei Numeri Pari).
Pink Floyd's Endless River deserves also a mention here.

I've heard lots of good reports on the Pale Communion so I'm surprised it's made no-ones list so far. I've listened to it a couple of times and it's just not my kind of thing taste wise. The MoeTar is excellent.
