I'm not really a fanatic progressive rock or metal fan - for starters.

I like music in most genres and styles; but I'm most fond of music either complex and innovative or rich in moods and atmospheres. I don't mind some catchy grooves either though, and even the simplistic music of oldies like Steppenwolf still sound good in my ears.

As for getting to know progressive music - Rush and Hawkwind where the band that first kindled that interest, both of them bands I discovered in my early teens. There were artists I listened to even in the years where the rest of my musical menu consisted mostly of power metal and thrash.

I'm not a big fan of tagging music. As I see it music should be described as progressive, progressive-tinged or not progressive seen from the view of a prog interested person - more tags equals more anal-retarded attitudes to music as I see it really. And seeing descriptions like "symphonic death metal" on music makes me wish that more music fans should get a life - or at least get laid more often.

These days I cater for my musical interest by writing reviews; mostly for progressor.net, but also some reviews for www.progressiveears.com, www.usaprogmusic.com and www.prog4you.com. In Progarchives I mostly add short reviews (often summaries of reviews) - these short reviews can also be found at a site called rateyourmusic.
