Megace biography
MEGACE were formed in Hamburg, Germany in early 1988 by Melanie BOCK (Vocals), Jörg SCHRÖR (Guitar) and Michael MÜLLER (Bass). Already with a few line-up changes in the first few months, the band released its first demo, "The Sign of the Ape" in October of the same year with Kai Alexander SPIEKERMANN on drums and Klaus Florian 'Dirty' MÖLLER (Ex-Anesthesia) on guitars. The demo was recorded in Rockrooms Hamburg-Harburg studio and sold about 550 copies. During the period up to 1990, the line-up saw further changes, among which founding member Michael MÜLLER was replaced by Christian 'Chriddle' WULFF (ex-DROWNING IN REAL), and the band performed several gigs. "This is the News" is the title of the band's second demo, which shows a shift to experimental thrash metal. The demo was recorded in Arschweh - Studio Hamburg and produced and engineered by Kai HANSEN (ex-HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY). The following year saw the band performing with big acts such as ICED EARTH and BLIND GUARDIAN.

In 1991 they participated in CD compilations and also released their first full-length album, "Human Errors" with Carsten SCHUBERT on drums. The album was recorded in Dust Music Studio, Hilchenbach, released by 1MF-Records, sold about 5500 copies and includes the complete second demo and new material. Changes in line-up continue in 1992, leaving the drummer seat empty for about 9 months and with Stefan SPEIDEL (ex-DROWNING IN REAL) replacing MÖLLER on guitars. Their third demo came in 1994, entitled "Pseudo Identity" with Stephan GORA on drums. It was recorded in Hansen Studio Hamburg, engineered and produced by Dirk SCHLÄCHTER (GAMMA RAY) and sold only 350 copies. The final change in the line-up was that of the drummer, with Andreas DÜWEL taking charge later the same year. Problems with their record company saw the band recording material at various places for several years, not released at the time, performing in various shows and participating in CD compilations. Their second (and final) full-length album finally came in May 1999, entitled "Inner War". Most of the recordings took place in Arschweh Studio Hamburg and the album was released through Angular Records and distributed by SPV GmbH. The last two years of the band?s history included several gigs and unreleased recordings. Due to musical differences, founding member Jörg SCHRÖR left the band in September 2001 which led to MEGACE splitting up.

The four remaining members, BOCK, WULFF, SPEIDEL and DÜWEL, with the a...

4 stars German band MEGACE was formed back in 1988, one of the rare metal bands sporting a female lead vocalist. They released their debut album "Human Errors" back in 1991, and some eight years later their second and last album "Inner War" was issued in 1999, three years before Megace disbanded.

Fairly demanding, quirky and aggressive thrash metal is what Megace provides on their second studio album "Inner War", a production that quite rightly was marketed as progressive thrash metal at the time of its release. Sporting high quality female lead vocals as a distinct feature, and where the majority of the compositions are short in length whilst consisting of multiple themes and rich arrangements. A CD that should find favor amongst those who enjoy the likes of Mekong Delta first and foremost, and especially for those amongst them who also enjoy listening to bands like Anthrax I'd suspect.

Thanks to bonnek for the artist addition.
