Nami biography
Based in the tiny country of Andorra, NAMI compose metal that shares various aspects of extreme technical metal, post metal and tradition progressive metal, intertwining their influences to create music that shifts in intensity and style frequently yet fluidly. Originally conceived by Sergi VERDEGUER on drums and Jonathan LEMOS on guitars, they were later joined by vocalist Roger ANDREU, guitarist Bernat ARGEMI and bassist Ricard TOLOSA. LEMOS was eventually replaced by guitarist Filipe BALDAIA shortly before production began on their debut 2011 release, entitled ''Fragile Alignments''. In 2012 BERNAT left the band and the void was filled by Ivan MARIN as their new guitarist. At the tail end of 2012 the band began to work on their second full length album, which saw the light of day in November of 2013. This album, ''The Eternal Light of the Unconscious Mind'', expands their diverse nature even further, with a central theme involving dreams and their effects on conscious and unconscious states. Featuring contributions from members of PERSEFONE and THE OCEAN, the album showcases an act merging different textures to create an interesting whole.

4 stars Andorran band NAMI was formed back in 2007, and released their debut album "Fragile Alignments" four years later. Since then the band has gone through some personnel changes. They reappeared as a recording unit in 2013 with their sophomore production "The Eternal Light of the Unconscious Mind", which was released through Graviton Music Services towards the end of 2013.

Nami should cater quite nicely to those with a taste for sophisticated progressive metal of the kind that explores a fairly large landscape. The compositions have room for frail, light toned atmospheric oriented passages just as much as doom laden excursions, traditional heavy metal based ones, alongside thrash, progressive metal and some of the more extreme varieties. With some post rock flavoring to top it off. The mood and atmosphere is a dark one though, so an affection for dark moods is needed, as is a certain taste for lead vocals of the growling variety, to be able to enjoy this production. Those who can subscribe to that description should find this CD to be one well worth spending some time with.
