Fire On Dawson biography
German band FIRE ON DAWSON, at first called Fire on Dawson Street, was formed in 2005 by Moritz Lietzenmayer (drums), Nicolas Morales Ocampo (guitars) and Martin Sonntag (bass). Vocalist Ankur Batra joined in 2006, and the following year the need for a second guitarist saw Manuel Odendahl expand their line-up to a fivesome. They released their first EP "7 Symptoms" soon after, and then both guitarists left the band for various reasons. Markus Stricker became their new guitarist, and in 2009 Nicolas Morales Ocampo rejoined the band briefly, contributing to the band's debut album "Prognative" and a subsequent tour in India before leaving again.

When work commenced on their next album in 2010 another line-up alteration took place, as forming member Lietzenmayer decided to leave the band. Max Siegmund became his replacement, and in 2012 Fire On Dawson was ready with their sophomore effort "7 Billion and a Nameless Somebody". Since then the band has had a second tour in India, as well as performances in Eastern Europe and of course in their homebase of Germany. The latest news from band headquarters is that 2013 will be a year of performing their material live in new territories, as well as rumours of collaborations so far unnamed.

4 stars German band FIRE ON DAWSON was formed back in 2006, released their debut EP the following year and their first full length album came in 2010. "Seven Billion and a Nameless Somebody" is their second full length production, released on their own label Degressive Records in the fall of 2012.

Fire On Dawson isn't a band that will find much favor amongst dedicated old school progressive rock fans, those who have sworn their allegiance to the likes of Genesis or Magma isn't a target crowd for this band. But I'd suspect that those who are into acts like Porcupine Tree might find this CD to be an interesting one, especially those amongst them who also listen to bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
