Colourblind biography
Hailing from Malta, COLOURBLIND was formed by brothers Alistair (guitars) and Shaun (drums, prcussion) back in 1998, with vocalist Paul Cassar added to the line-up soon after the formation. Etienne Scicluna (keyboards) and Adriano (bass) joined a bit later, and were the final additions needed to get a fully functional band.

In 2004 vocalist Sky emigrated to Canada while bassist Adriano quit. A fruitless search for replacements followed, until James Micallef (bass) hooked up with the band in 2006. At about the same time Sky returned from Canada and rejoined Colourblind. Sometime later a sixth member entered the band too, namley second vocalist Jozi.

In 2009 they made their recording debut with the full length album Spectre. Since the album release Scicluna and Jozi has left the band, and at least as of September 2010 Colourblind has chosen to move forwards as a quartet.

Colourblind Progressive Metal

Review by Windhawk

4 stars Malta isn't the most obvious place to look for a progressive metal band, but this fine effort by Colourblind may change that just a little.

The 7 songs on this relatively brief effort is a nicely put together package, residing somewhere in between Nightwish and Dream Theatre in their musical endeavours. Moods and melodies are given a total focus, and a carefully built-up increase in overall intensity something of a masterplan used throughout here.

It works pretty well too I might add. Nothing new or exciting here, but at times brilliantly written, performed and produced. Miles and the ballad Stranded showcase this act at their best, and the latter should have been a massive radio hit in a perfect world.

One to check out for fans of mainstream progressive metal in other words - followers of acts like Nightwish and Evanescence for instance.

Thanks to windhawk for the artist addition.
