ProgressiveXperience biography
PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE is an Italian prog metal band that was formed in 2003 and the original line-up consisted of Paolo Lastrucci (drums), Lorenzo Fini (bass) and Orlando Perri (guitars). Their intention was to create their own original music incorporating their progressive influences.

Soon Claudio Bianchi (piano) joined the band, and he brought the technical experience and compositional skills the band needed. In 2005 guitarist Perri was replaced with Tullio Forteleoni and experienced singer Giovanni Valente also joined the group.

With a full line-up now realized,PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE began writing and rehearsing and soon recorded their 2005 demo. They started to gig extensively throughout Italy, garnering attention and arousing a lot of interest in the music community.

Citing personal conflicts, PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE parted ways with guitarist Tullio Forteleoni. The band then decided to recruit not only one new guitarsit but two. Marco Giovannetti and Francesco Munaò joined the band, and now PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE totalled six members in their line-up.

Re-arranging old lyrics and writing new ones, and with the input of the new members, PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE entered the studio and recorded their first full-length album, which is titled "X", and was released in 2007.

PROGRESSIVEXPERIENCE claims they draw influence from a variety of bands, such as GENESIS, RUSH, KING CRIMSON, PINK FLOYD, DREAM THEATER, STEVE VAI, QUEEN, TOTO and classical music. Their brand of progressive metal is highly recommended.

Review by robbob

4 stars I have never been a real fan of this band.

But I listen to this new work...and I was quite impressed...

Not an spectacular album but ...very good indeed.

Nice melodies...good and original compositions, nice arrangements..(specially acoustic guitar)

What is not so good:

The sound..may be intentionally ....¿because they wanted to sound as a seventies heavy prog band?..i don t know...or still they don't have enough support... Vocals are quite weak too.

But a solid heavy prog rock album with the influences yet named in other reviews and of italian prog rock too.

So a good surprise this album in comparison to their latest works.

3.5 to 4 stars in my opinion.

3 stars Italian band ProgressiveXperience have produced a promising debut with their album "X".

Blending art rock with prog metal influences, they create a slick soundscape heavily infused with synths and piano, spiced with elements from prog metal when it comes to rhythms and riffing.

The overall soundscape is slick and polished, no rough edges here.

They still have a developing potential when it comes to songwriting though, but for for fans of well performed and well polished art rock with prog metal influnces this is a release worth checking out.
