4 stars Cool release by this German band.

The basis of their sound seems to be melodic 70's inspired hard rock; quite similar to what King's X did years ago. Strong melodies, good vocals and vocal harmonies; and using the traditional verse/chorus structure in most of their songs.

Junk Farm then mix in elements from funk and fusion to create their own little niche in the world of music; and do so successfully most of the time.

Not a release that will set the world on fire; but a solid release. And if you like King's X, there's a good chance that this will be cool as well.

4 stars Junk Farm is a german trio with 3 albums released so far. The second one Ugly little thing from 2007 issued at Unicorn Digital is a great example how must be played heavy prog with a good doze of jazz fusion elements. This band is fun to listen and is something elese in musical scene, to much time over populated by unintristing bands. JUnk Farm desearve a far more bettwr view, because this album is a total winner in my book. The arrangements, the harmonis, all the instrumental passages are very ok, very intristing and in same time quite original album. The combination betwen jazz fusion elements with the heavy prog ones, give to this album a special status in prog scene. Nice guita parts, some great keybords aswell and above all a fantastic drumer. I can't extract a piece to be the best, all has that unique german flavour, all are great , inventive and well executed. Nice album, underrated band, I can recommend this one because is very pleasent, fun and original.
