Juke biography
JUKE is an English-singing band from Tours/France, created in 2011, born out of the passion that four guys had for the 70's music. Composed of Kévin Toussaint (vocals, guitar), Lancelot Carré (drums & percussion), Quentin Rousseau (keyboards & fx), and Théo Ladouce (bass), the band is inspired by the great music of Pink Floyd. The Doors, King Crimson, Gong, plus more recent bands like Radiohead and Tame Impala, though the four members have their own distinctive vision of the actual progressive and especially psychedelic rock music.

Quickly, JUKE become an entity comprising four true personalities. Concept songs, an enchanting universe that is truly theirs: this is a subtle mix of bewitching soundscapes, hypnotics rhythms and penetrating guitar solos that you're being offered. In 2012, they released 'Atom Experiment', their first EP where they are taking you in an altered space of mind. The band is already distinguishing itself by including the twenty-eight minutes musical piece 'Black Magic', which asserts itself as a lead track.

After this first release, the JUKE members bustle about creating their first album. During the first months of 2013, the band polish up its work which will be a true concept album.

4 stars French outfit JUKE was formed back in 2011 by four musicians sharing an affection for '70s progressive and psychedelic rock, with bands such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson and The Doors mentioned as influential. They released an initial EP towards the end of 2012, and just under two years later they were ready with their full-length debut album "Chimera's Tale". As is increasingly more common these days, the band opted to self release the CD.

Good, old-fashioned symphonic space rock with a distinct '70s mood and atmosphere is what Juke delivers on their debut album "Chimera's Tale". Mainly subtle developments and careful alterations are the order of the day, with few dramatic impulses in what appears to be well thought-out compositions throughout. Associations towards the likes of Pink Floyd and Eloy are firm throughout, at least to my ears, and I suspect that those who like both of those bands should be a key audience for this album due to that.
