that was too funny. Still sitting on my vote. Still no idea which way to vote... It better not be tied come Sunday morning or I'll go Scanners trying to break the tie.

You can count on my vote as a tie breaker too. I have not been able to choose, for similar reasons, so... things may get interesting...

Stoah comes across quite angry and .......serious.... Maahnt comes across as demented.......and serious. I love these tracks to death (from heart-attack....) and love what Magma do, just my perception of Vander and his cohorts is serious focus and understanding. You have to be seriously committed to your instrument, and you have to be seriously committed to your vocal delivery/style. Maybe they themselves had a challenging sort of 'fun' element to their work, but it comes across serious to my perception. How can you perform this magnitude of complexity and starkness with a smile on your face, unless you are dead serious......?? Sure, it may be a 'fun' listen, but I seriously doubt that's their intention. I'm sure I read in a translated interview with Vander, that he stated that 'every time I hit a cymbal, means death to someone' ....(either bad translation or I'm misinterpreting the claim, or my brain is fried from years ago..... )....

That's fun as well. Intentional or not it don't matter to me.

I can't believe we will lose Magma, one the best Prog bands ever so soon.

Hawkwind should be no match for Magma. Just listen to how great this almost randomly picked album is. You vote for some dirty spacepunks over this??!

Warrior on the Edge of Time, Chronicle of the Black Sword, Choose Your Masques, Quark, Strangeness and Charm, etc., aren't minced meat pies, either. Let's just agree each band excels at their specialty.

Indeed. I am quite (pleasantly) surprised that Hawkwind is winning thins on. I have always had the impression that The Hawks were not all that popular around these parts - and Magma was pretty well thought of as one of the big names. They are certainly more than 'dirty spacepunks' which is reasonably insulting and makes me feel quite glad that it has upset you. BTW an 'almost' randomly chosen album is a chosen album. (I am now beginning to feel like Kevin Keegan and his 'love it' speech. So no doubt Magma will make a dramatic come back its close run thing) . We Were Born to GO..... As far as we can fly...

Oh I like Hawkwind very much but I still feel dirty spacepunks is very fitting. Saw them live last year and loved every old tune they played and hated every single newish one. It was a fantastic and awful experience.

Maybe, but you used it in a negative way. I really enjoyed the new stuff they played last time I saw them after blood of the Earth. Although the best thing they played was You'd Better Believe it. I think that (Blood) and the last (Onward) are both excellent albums.

When I saw them on the Blood Of The Earth tour they did, I enjoyed every second of it - and they played Wraith and Sentinel - my utter faves from the album. And to witness Moonweed Blake in action was just out-bloody-rageous !!

it is not over yet. As long as it stays close. A think there are a fair number of us sitting on our votes for this one as some are big fans of both. I feel myself beginning to finally lean one way on this, but I'm not voting until right before closing time.
