Wow... you people have some amazing equipment! I did consider buying a third keyboard this year but since it is impossible for me to use one on live gigs I've upgraded other equipment instead. I am still tempted by the idea to get a vintage monophonic synth in the future though, and alternate between that one (if it's working) and my Moog Little Phatty on stage and in the studio. Anyway, my current equipment:
Keyboards
Nord Electro 2 - 73 key version
Moog Little Phatty - Tribute Edition
A great old upright piano which ended up in my possession since I was the only family member using it
Pedals
Moog Moogerfooger Mf-103 12-stage phaser
EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress flanger
Moodysounds Strange Devil Echo (analog delay, broken atm)
Earthquaker Devices Rainbow Machine
Some tuning pedal for my Moog... don't remember the brand.
All attached to my Pedaltrain 2
Guitars
Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar
Epiphone SG
Amps
DNS Studio 20, great tube-driven bass-amp with a high frequency response. Incredible for E. Piano and Organ sounds.
Hiwatt G20, kinda lame, I don't use it anymore
Microphones
Line Audio CM3 (x2, purchased recently to record my upright piano)
The CM3s are the only ones in my personal possession, other microphones I use when recording in our family's little home studio are:
Shure 545 (x2)
Line Audio SM3L
Oktava ML-52 (x2, incredible for drum overhead/ambience and vocals if you use a dark voice)
Recording
Frost Audioframe laptop
Cubase 6
M-Audio Fastrack ultra 8R soundcard
Presonus Bluetube preamp
Zoom H4 portable recorder, I don't use it for any studio recording but it's great as a headphone amp when practicing (I never practice at home without headphones, believe it or not but some people actually don't like to hear me experiment with sound effects for hours or playing "The Lamia" incorrectly over and over again, they get enough of that from the Upright Piano)
Finally the equipment I use the most by far, my Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro Headphones.

Have made two major changes since this was posted.
First of all I've bought (and already got someone to repair) the beauty that is my avatar, a vintage Eminent Solina String Ensemble.
Secondly I sold the Nord Electro 2 and bought a Nord Electro 4. Cost me lots of money, but the new one has some great features, for example Vox and Farfisa organs along with a better Hammond, better Leslie simulation, and lots of great sounds I didn't have access to before like Harpsichord and Mellotron.
Also donated my Hiwatt to my brother who is going to install some great tube amp from a kit instead of the Hiwatt (just keeping the actual box so to speak, everything else will be replaced).
I think I'll have to stay away from more purchases like these for some time now though... But it's worth it, I couldn't be happier with what I have!

Boss Octave Divider - from the late 1980s
Boss OC-3 Super Octave
Behringer Super Octaver
ART DRX 2100 Pitch Transposer, Sampler, Crunch, Delay, Ring Modulator (could go in every category, but I got it for the pitch transposing)
Ring Modulators (I need more):
Nervous Squirrel Ring Modulator - no internal oscillator
2 Pittsburgh Modulator Triple Modes - ring modulator and amplitude modulator
w/Ecorack case and power source
Delptronics Ring Modulator effects box - allows either a carrier signal or internal oscillator
Flangers:
3 Boss Flangers - from the mid 1980s
2 Behringer FL600 Flanger Machines
2 Behringer SF400 Super Flangers
Behringer HF300 Hi-Band Flanger (could be put in the harmonizer category too)

Roland (Very very small. I can’t remember the model. It’s at home.)
Another small one, don’t remember

My little Roland amp is called a Micro Cube.
I forgot to mention my Bouzouki first go around.
Since I posted I got:
another Dgitech Timebender
another Digitech Harmony Man (What's the sense of having 2 Timebenders if you have only 1 Harmony Man?)
2 more Line 6 FM4 Filter and Synth Modelers (They only store 4 of your favorite sounds, and I have more than 4, so I got more)
1 more Nervous Squirrel ring modulator (No explanation needed.)
4 Behringer Preamp Boosters (Don't judge me. I need several and they're only $25.)
1 Behringer NR300 Noise Reducer
1 Behringer Dynamics Compressor (believe it or not, it has a metal housing)
And my Alesis SR-18 came in. Highly recommended. Great sound. Lots of control of different parameters. Great control for live use (get a foot pedal for it). It also allows you odd time signatures with quarter notes, 5/4, 7/4, 9/4 and so on. For eighth note time signatures you have to be content with doubling up on the tempo. |
Since I posted last I bought a Multi-Overtone MO-2 pedal, which is new from Boss. I was one of the very first to get one, as Sweetwater was the first retailer to get them, and I was first on their waiting list.
I also got a Roland GR-D V-Guitar distortion. Nice distortion, but what I really got it for was the saw tooth sound. It's made for the GK-3 pickup, but unlike the discontinued Boss Wave Shaper, which I also own, it can also use a regular guitar cable.
I bought a GK-3 pickup, but haven't installed it yet. I had hoped that it would be an easy install, but it's not. And I'm not sure I even want to mess with my Les Paul.
I also got two more Behringer Preamp/Boosters, and
1 more Nervous Squirrel ring modulator
|
Since I posted last I bought:
1 Boss TE-2 Tera Echo
1 Pigtronix Mothership Analog Synthesizer
1 Boss SYB-5 Bass Synthesizer
1 Ibanez SB7 Synthesizer Bass
1 Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion (on order)
And a 2nd Boss MO-2 Multi-Overtone pedal (on order)

Holy cow, some incredible collections here. I've always been a casual player, with the obligatory awful bar band for a short period after high school. I learned on an old acoustic I found in my grandmother's garage when I was 12. It was what my uncle learned on when he was a kid. By the time I found it, after decades of being stored away, it had become crusty and busted and ugly, but it worked, and I loved it. I've carried it with me ever since, but I stopped playing about 15 years ago and stored it away myself. I'd gotten rid of my electric and other equipment before even then. The acoustic even had the original cardboard case until my last move when it finally just disintegrated beyond use. Got a Yamaha acoustic a few years back just to fiddle with, but have only recently concentrated on relearning and playing. I had practically forgotten my old guitar in the storage room, until I came across the bridge that I had kept inside in a box since it was unstrung and I had no case to keep them together. Decided to pull that old thing out and clean it off and see how it has fared. It's a 1953 Epiphone Zenith, and it sounds exactly like it used to. Rough as it looks, it's actually in very much the same condition I found it in. That stain down the front was from something that probably spilled on it before I was even born. It was missing the pick guard as well when I saved it from Grandma's garage. I may try to fabricate one, though. Only regrettable damage I've caused it was that somehow during its time away, the three tuning buttons for the E, A and D strings dried and cracked so badly that they crumbled when I began stringing it up. I had to order a set, and couldn't find any that looked like the butter-tooth color the other 3 have taken on over the years. So, I have 3 original and now 3 pearl buttons. Trying to get my wife to pick up the Yamaha so we can play together. Doesn't seem likely to happen.

I can understand you hanging onto this guitar. In spite of the stain it looks to be in great condition for it's age. The first guitar on my list (1949 Gibson) was purchased new by my Dad. A new case was not in the budget so it stood in the bedroom corner for years. The exposure eventually caused the wood to dry and shrink. The shrinkage, working against the fixed pick guard and bridge, started to cause a couple of small cracks at the sound hole. The caps on the tuning pegs (like yours) had crumbled and three were missing completely and the others were damaged. A few years ago I took it to a guitar tech who carefully removed the pick guard and bridge and let it sit for three months while the wood "settled". He also found a complete set of caps for the tuning pegs. It is still a non player though. The wood braces inside the body are loose, again because of exposure, and that would be a major repair.

When I first posted my equipment list I noticed that no one had posted in awhile. I'm glad to see it pick up. When I figure out how to work my new camera I'll post some photos of my guitars, amps and effects.

Thank you Gibson Melodymaker guitars were inexpensive (compared to other models) and were meant for beginners and students. This one is so easy to play and has that deep textured sound that you want in a vintage Gibson. I'm not sure if the thin hollow body ES is a 125 or not. That's the closest I could match the guitar on a vintage Gibson website. But it plays and sounds like a dream. My Dad and I bought it at a swap meet in the late sixties and paid $75 for it. The Les Paul Studio is one of my two everyday guitars with the other being the '73 Fender Strat on my equipment list. It has the hottest pick ups I've heard on a Studio model. I have a good friend that is a singer/guitarist/songwriter who has put out five or six independent CDs. Even though she has her own LP Studio she loves this one. She borrowed it to record one of her recent CDs and put a picture of her on the cover playing it.

Cool guitar! Does it sound loud enough without center sound hole? (I guess it doesn't have a piezo pickup?)

That 3 pickup Tele is interesting, it must be quite more versatile that the archetypal model.
