I love days like these, staying at home while it's drizzling outside, organising things and getting stuff done, while listening to music all day. 80s and classical today.

Pink Floyd- The Final Cut

Peter Gabriel- IV/Security

King Crimson- Discipline

Genesis- Duke

Bruckner- 4th Symphony (Chailly/Concertgebouw)

Mozart- Jupiter Symphony (Bernstein/Vienna Phil)

Mozart- Kegelstatt Trio (Martin Frost)

Bruckner- 8th Symphony (Chailly/Concertgebouw)

Bruckner's 8th remains the most glorious, beautiful music imaginable.

Definitely a chance to catch up on some more recent prog!

Albums I've listened to today whilst swinging a lumber axe:

Poa - Blocco Mentale (Wow! I'd completely forgotten just how good this album is! RPI fans look no further.)

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Revelation

A. R. & Machines - Echo (Standing in the garden with sweat running down in my eyes while blazing white sunlight tries to blind me, this album was quite the trip. There's no need for mescalin with this little baby.)

Haken - The Mountain (Maybe my 15th spin of this cd that I got for Xmas by one of my friends who knew I am into prog. Man this thing is almost impossible to get through. Dream Theater joins forces with Neil Morse and throws in a couple of Gentle Giant references for good measure Ermm

^^^ I never heard that A.R & Machines album, but I really liked A.R IV Thumbs Up

I'll have to give that one and others from them a listen.

I have that feeling with many Metal albums, but this one is not one of them for me.

I just find it pedestrian and I absolutely hate the faux Neil Morse vocals. In fact most of The Mountain reminds me of Sola Scriptura.

I'm happy for the band though - they seem to have garnered quite the fan base during their first three albums. It's just not my kind of bag.

Lots of twittering VCS3 synths bubbling along, some tortured Frippian guitars, but not too much full band tracks - there is a 7" included as a bonus with this reissue that has 4 short tracks that were recorded pre-EG, these are great little Prog-Psych numbers. I still don't have Allez Teia, but have the rest - all amazing albums.

Yes, well Standby - friggin' BRILLIANT !! Possibly their best. Then, in this order : Interface, Agneta Nilsson, EG, Une Reve Consequence Speciale, It's Always Rock & Roll.
