If they had we'd all be speaking French now.
That is laughable, they were content with Canada

Later in life I wanted to own a New York style Deli and then an English tea room introducing proper tea to the colonials. Ho-hum. Whatever happened to The American Dream...
Strange I suppose, but I never owned a car until I was well into my thirties. I rode a 'souped up' subway with customized paint by a guy named Graffiti.
I lived 3 miles from Europe's only permanent drag strip so most of my summer weekends from the age of around ten until I was fifteen were spent drooling over dragsters, hot rods and custom cars. I too never owned a car of my own until I was in my 30s... I didn't even have a driving licence until 1989.
What?

^Same here, I didn't have a license either when I was younger, but I didn't have the excitement of a local drag strip. That must have been awesome for a youngster!

The question as stated in the title seems difficult to answer.

The "benefits" of living here seem to be the same as for residents of any other "rich world" representative democracy:  relative personal freedom, advanced economy, relatively high standard of living, etc.

For me personally, I have always lived in the Northeast USA and I really can't see myself living anywhere else.  The farthest south (and west for that matter) I lived was Northern Virginia.

The main difference, I think, is the lopsided ratio of violence when comparing the States to the UK. Yes, The UK did have it's terrorist era with the IRA, but I don't think it's anything like the rampant violence that the United States suffers now and will continue to. One has to live in both countries to appreciate this difference.

^^  I've been to New England a few times and fonnd the winters difficult but that's because I was so use to the weather in Southern California.
I was on vacation so I didn't have to go out each morning and scrape the car windshield and shovel snow to get the car out of the driveway.
But having a white Christmas was nice. It reminded me of being a small boy in the Midwest.

No they weren't, far from it (they had already lost Canada by then). Had he beaten the British and Russians Napoleon would have then turned his attention to all the North American territories France lost in the Seven Years War, not just Canada. Also, America only won the revolutionary war because of French intervention and support, France gained nothing in return apart from a mountain of debt and a bit of kudos for embarrassing the English. Bonapart would have also exacted his revenge for the USA declaring itself neutral in the later Napoleonic wars.
What?

^Yes, Napoleon's troops against American guerrilla fighters would have been slaughtered.

A bit of snow is OK and can be pleasant; a harsh winter with a ton of snow is awful.

A lot of snow is pleasant, a little snow is a tease.

^ Damn it; I knew I should have clarified that!

As far as I can remember, the ungodliest temperatures struck St.-Petersburg (Russia!) in the winters of '99-2000 and 2004-2005 (something like that), with the threats of frostbite. I guess I'm just a "bring-it-on" type of guy who hasn't had a time when he really missed his job because of the weather.

Highly unlikely, the Americans only won the revolutionary war because of French involvement, soldiers, supplies and armaments.

Always a good idea to start a war when the enemy is a long way away and preoccupied with fighting Napoleon. Most Brits don't even know that war was ever fought.
