Russia has humiliated itsef without the west's help. We are all waiting with baited breath to see whom and how they blame this shootdown on. No Ukrainians to try to blame this on this time. Sure they'll doctor something to make it look like the aircraft was never in Turkish airspace but the only people that will buy it, will be the only ones that is is intended TO be sold to Their own people and funkies like you Svetty. To avoid losing face to their own nation. Again, this isn't the 80's when you risked shooting a Soviet plane meant a real crisis. It speaks to just how far Russia has fallen under Putin, the lack of fear from Turkey about a possible Russian response. The Russian people don't want to hear that, Putin doesn't want them to consider that considering he banks his power base on returning Russia to what it once was. Those violations of Turkish airspace have been going on for days. This was a surprise to no one. Only that it took so long for Turkey to shoot one of those planes out of the sky. It has to protect its own borders or what good are having them. No need to remember. We all know it. The west has a long tradition of supporting mass murderers for their own larger geo-political aims. So Turkey looked the other way with ISIS. Lots of countries did. Not the first of last. Turkey gained some bonus points in the west by bitch slapping Russia whose unilateral and counter productive entry in this mess was feared by all, and lauded by none. No one blames them for looking the other way with ISIS. A lot of countries did, a lot severely underestimated their abiity to do what they have. That said, once they have been established as the threat they are. They are toast. Slow to react perhaps the west is, once they do get moving they'll blow that region to hell twice over. Then again, without committing ground troops the west is making a huge mistake Air power has won as many wars as my feared debating skills have. Zero... I had hoped France might understand that but perhaps reality is no western country was going to put sufficient boots on teh ground there to fully eradicate ISIS. Don't worry, Dean, Svetonio will reply as soon as he finds the proper Serbian government-approved anti-Western propaganda to use. |

From what I've heard the Russians have not been targeting ISIS since the airstrikes began.
Instead of ISIS, they are targeting Assad's enemies.

Last month, Moscow intervened militarily at Assad’s invitation, launching airstrikes against what it said were targets linked to the Islamic State, but in actuality hammering the Syrian opposition forces seeking to bring down the regime. It is now considering the deployment of irregular Russian troops, or “volunteers,” to carry out ground operations. On Wednesday, Syrian forces began a ground offensive as Russian warplanes blasted targets throughout western Syria, according to the Washington Post.

On the other hand, Turkey has struck a knife in the back, not only to Russia, which is actually a country with which Turkey has so far upward relations, but Turkey has struck a knife in the back of NATO / OTAN, because all the commands of NATO countries already recieved the firm evidences that the Turkish fighter broken down Russian bomber in the airspace of Syria; Turkey actually sided with ISIS, against Russia and NATO. So far, Russia has shown a moderate attitude towards the so-called Syrian opposition, the Kremlin agreed that the political changes in Syria "are necessary", which means that the Kremlin agrees to that some of requests from Western allies should be accepted, but now, in the new situation, the Kremlin ought to take the whole Syria for Russian sphere of influence in the region and I'm afraid that there's not an alternative for Russia in these new conditions.

Even US and Turkish generals admitted that it was a bad decision.
Now ''Syrian Opposition'' is mainly Islamist including ISIS. |

It was a massive over reaction by Turkey and a deliberate attempt to escalate the crisis. They should be expelled from NATO and their EU application torn up and thrown out immediately. Their government is bordering on Islamic extremists and are tacit supporters of ISIS.
They're clearly concerned about the progress Russia is making against terrorism in Syria (all terrorism!) and also probably horrified at a french/Russian coalition, so they had to intervene to make a west/Russian alliance more difficult. There are no clean hands in this conflict. There are no "good guys" Anyone who thinks there is needs to go back to school, but it is neither Russia or Assad who are going round the world killing people in theatres, on the streets, in hotels, on beaches with the backing of Saudi Arabia. |

RE: jet planes violating neighbouring airspaces, it happens all the time... you try to respect to a few miles the border at Mach 1 when on mission... Furthermore, it's nearly/totally impossible when your strike zones are close to the said-border.
That's the whole point.... 99% of Anti-Bachar forces are Islamist terrorists, no matter what Obama and Cameron say... There is no valid opposition, that's why we, the West, should've helped him out right from the start, even though the man is a bloody tyrant (he was one already before the uprisings) Now indeed, Turkey is playing on all three sides and still killing the Kurds on the home front, who IMHO are the only valid local forces.... Note that I'm not aware the Kurds are fighting Bachar forces No matter what, I think one iof the main result from this war will be the creation of a Kurdish state... it will be made of the autonomous Kurdish region in Irak, the far east of Syria and surely, we can convince Iran to give up the Kurdish lands within its frontiers (normally, Iran backs a Kurdish state... Of course once again, those bloody Turks will be the main problem/obstacle. Edited by Sean Trane - November 25 2015 at 02:46 |

Lavrov just gave a 30min speech and answered a lot journalist's questions, isn't it weird that the CNN, SKY NEWS and BBC did not air this at all? AJE and RT (Ofcourse broadcasted this whole thing live) This was live for 30 min, finished 5min ago.
