yes, even if deprived of CDs, an iPod, etc. I can always access what's already stored away. Many, many gigabytes worth, and fortunately I never run out of memory.

Do you sometimes too feel like you can play a song note for note in your head? Like really every little thing?

damn right... some of these albums I do think I have played.. 100's.. perhaps a 1000 times. I think I do know them note for frickin note in my head. ![]() Granted it might take another 50 years to learn the whole of TFTO in my head. but then again.. that is why it is the single greatest prog album ever done. Even after years, decades of listening.. you still discover new things. The simple fact is 99% of most music, prog included, is not that deep. |

I could manage that, but then it would be a silly, tough philosophy period for me without the music to distract and lull me by.

I always have a song in my head, whether music is playing or not. Could be the acid and mesc from the 70s, but I'm good with that.

Yes, but it is difficult. It doesn't happen very often though, as I tend to play music whenever I can.

Yes, Easily....but not very often.
For one of two reasons: 1) to enjoy nature (like when I'm out camping), which in its own way, is its own music (including the silence). or 2) because I'm absorbed into audio books, or other talk/news/radio stories, and such.

Talking about sad days, that reminds me I actually have gone some days without music. Days when important people in my life, as some grandparents and aunts/uncles have passed away, I wouldn't really want to put music or stuff to enjoy for a time. It just didn't feel right at the moment. |

I suppose it depends on the day. Sometimes I walk down the streets or ride a bike (and ignore people) while listening to music, other times I'm a soulless bureaucrat in a suit.

I am subjected to work-radio 5 days a week -,only 2 or 3 songs ever that I truly like, so I always plonk some Prog on when I get home - no music, only when I'm dead.................

I voted "Yes, easily". This would usually be times when I am deeply into a project and need to focus 100% on the task at hand. More rarely, it would be times when I have reached my "saturation level" and need some time off to recover. The proportions of the above have also varied greatly over the years.
