An incredible voice no matter what else you may think of him or ELP. Gabriel is easily in my top 5 though. |

Of course, his voice fits the old GENESIS perfectly, of course Strangely enough, I never was interested in his later career .
Many others great voices, Gary Brooker, David Byron, Francesco di Giacomo Jimmy Spitaleri, Michele Bavaro, Jon Anderson, Greg Lake, Brad Delp, John Wetton, Paul Rodgers, James Dewar, etc. And Les Holroyd, John Lees and Woolly Wolstenholme of course .

Nope, not even close. Actually, very few of my favorite singers are singers of prog bands.

Although PG is great, he is not my favourite singer. For the dramatic qualities, it's Peter Hammill. For the beauty of the voice, probably Aldo Tagliapietra (Le Orme). There are many great voices in italian prog, like Francesco di Giacomo (Banco del mutuo soccorso - R. I. P.), Vittorio de Scalzi (New Trolls), Jimmy Spitaleri (Le Orme), or rough charismatic voices like Demetrio Stratos (Area) and Alvaro Fella (Jumbo).

He's right up there with Bob Dylan, Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen.
