Make that 1970-1983 What came after Hyperborea is the sort of 80s cheese I can happily live without. Green Desert though is wonderful and if my mood is just right then I can dig Underwater Sunlight and Legend as well.

Well you got me there Samuel. I've never really considered Other Voices and Full Circle as proper Doors albums. The band was still going under the same moniker though. Anyway, they're by no means poor albums - not even remotely....but yeah to me it's not really The Doors without Jim Great psychedelic blues rock albums no less so I guess the post is still valid.

I saw that they recently reissued the final 2 Doors' albums. I've never actually heard them but I am curious.

^ Yeah, it's difficult to imagine The Doors without Jim's powerful voice... there's Runnin' Blue though I'll have to get these someday.

Can I include non prog artists in this?

Yup...I put the thread in general music to hopefully avoid the inevitable "but that band's not really prog" arguments

Neil Young and John Coltrane are two artists with huge discographies and I have honestly never heard a bum release from either.

The only band that I would rate every studio release with 3.5/5 or higher is King Crimson. (Obviously, the live albums contain much excellence as well, but there are far too many of them for me to consider for this exercise...also sound quality will become an issue and that's no fun. :p)
Several bands come close to that mark: Univers Zero, Magma, Soft Machine, and VDGG, are the closest. Ulver isn't too far behind that either.
I think I'm a tough grader.

And Ray sang Close To You on the Absolutely Live album. Other Voices is my favourite Doors album. Full Circle is inconsistent, but has awesome tracks in Four Billion Souls, The Mosquito, Verdilac and The Piano Bird.

Actually, now that I think about it Agalloch would also qualify.
