Michael, great review as always for Nyl, you've made me spin the album today. I don't know if you've heard that missing song but it's about 1.5 minutes long and yes the song's quality is weird like it wasn't recorded with the album. It isn't such a big loss but I do totally agree with you that they should have kept it no matter what, and that rearranging of songs also annoys me so when I copied the album to my computer I arranged it just as the original album too, man we're such dorks LOL

About Il Volo, only until recently I used to prefer the first album over the second but now it's definitely the other way around, man talk about a slow grower! Essere O Non Essere is simply priceless, I'm not sure why I couldn't connect with it but boy am I glad I did, it is a beautiful album. How do you like it?

And finally have you ever checked Cos - Babel? This is another album I've totally overdosed on recently, it's not for everyone I'm sure but if I was to review it I would probably go with 5 stars, there's something about those songs that totally grabbed me, especially the vocals.

Today's album...

Discipline - Unfolded Like Staircase
Nyl - S/T
Finnegans Wake - Blue
Antique Seeking Nuns - All 3 EPs
Radiohead - Moon Shaped Pool
Anamorphose - Palimpseste (One of the greatest eclectic fusion albums out there)
Catharsis - 32 Mars
Aperco - The Battle

Funny you've mentioned this band, I only found out about them a few hours ago. They are about to play in Israel next month to open for the amazing Tatran, I immediately bought a ticket to see Tatran so I'll be seeing them too that same evening. I need to check them out but how's the music anyway?

I think our little particular music quirks are pretty funny, Sagi! Annoyances like those I discussed over that album really do my head in, I think it's partly an OCD issue!

I'll report back about Il Volo, as I have only fairly recently got both of their albums, and I'm just starting to come around to the debut now. I do recall the second one was probably more adventurous from what I remember, but the debut is just a great rock album period.

Never explored Cos further than `Viva Boma', but I'll make a note to look into it shortly.

I do have a recommendation for you, one I picked up the CD reissue of a few months back and have been overdosing on lately, the sole Horn album `On the People's Side', and the whole album can be played on Youtube here. It's a confusing little one - a seven-piece band that offered everything from lengthy Canterbury-flavoured jazzy musings, protest songs with gentle acid-rock qualities, lightly country influenced rockers with male and female vocals singing in unison, loopy Gong, Zappa and Cos-like improvisations, Zeuhl intensity and even a sly sense of humour! I think it;s frequently great, have a listen if you can to the clip and see what you think!

I've got a review ready to go as well.

I hope (I bet?) you loved that one, Dave? I think fans of the early Soft Machine albums would go mental for it

Michael, I heard that Synergy album when you posted something about it. I saw it on Youtube's suggestions so I gave it another listen. It's very accessible but good for what it is.

David, that Minami Deutsch album is really cool

Just listened to the first 20 minutes, man this is really good! I think I saw that name before but never went for it. I'll check it out again and probably get it soon, where did you buy it from?

It was almost surprisingly good! Really rad blend of fusion, 60s post-bop, hip hop, and contemporary jazz. Tight, short songs with as much emphasis on the songs as there is the soloing.

I got it from Syn-Phonic in the States, mate, no idea if it's hard to track down elsewhere. Definitely try to give that whole clip a spin, it's a pretty strange album with some pretty straight-forward rock/protest pieces mixed in between the really loopy stuff! So you might love half of it and hate the rest!

But I'll post a review for it later on tonight anyway, I think it's a great little album, plenty of great playing on it
