All bands start somewhere, usually with a debut album - so I've chosen debut albums as the subject of the first modern/new prog* poll, which I hope will become one of many.
I promised this poll, firstly because there was a request for album polls, secondly because I still feel discussion of modern prog is scarce due to (in my opinion) people obsessing over old stuff. That's not bad, I do it too, but it gets a bit annoying when you see the 51st Pink Floyd poll, the 80th Genesis appreciation thread... you get the idea. I hope this will change in course of time. Anyway, I'll stop rambling... These debuts are generally what I would consider "the cream of the crop", they are all by at least fairly good bands. Most of them are about 2012-ish but two are 2009, and one is as early as 2019. And they're mostly different sub-genres. So, a fairly varied choice. Off you go! *In case you're wondering why I always call it "Modern/New" prog, Wikipedia calls it new and most people here call it modern, so it's a combination.

Was going to vote for them until I decided Thank You Scientist was better. Then I remembered I listed Aquarius on the list.

TYS easy. BTW, the Sanguine Hum debut was Songs for Days released on iTunes in 2007. It was released as a CD in 2016, with additional songs. What we Ask is Where we Begin. Also, TYS debut was an EP.
Cool poll. Keep the modern prog talk going. Edited by Grumpyprogfan - September 30 2020 at 12:47 |

As predicted, I don't know any of those ten artists or albums in the poll.

I'll be sticking around for awhile now, despite rumours I was scared away by Cristi's cat.

"Every Night Something Happens, Lost Crowns - 2019" is an amazing album and gets my vote.
Favourite track: Sound As Colour |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
