^ Seriously, I'm adaptable and would get used to it.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Where is Psychedelic Paul?

I just assumed he was off giving 3-star reviews to albums he's never actually listened to.

Last I heard, he was halfway through a 2,000-word essay on why a B-side from 1971 deserves to be in the Rock Hall. He’ll emerge when the stars align or someone says “underrated gem” three times in a mirror.

I've not noticed any issues recently and can even use the hyperlink feature properly which I couldn't do before (seems to be an upgrade?). Always found progressive ears a bit dull tbh and at the end of the day doesn't have the fabulous database of PA. Hardly a day goes by that I don't check the top album list of 2025 for my next listening pleasure.

Have you tried a tool like this? It converts WYSIWYG to BB code (which I think is what PA forums accepts).

I, too, have found the new filters quite disappointing as I can no longer manipulate fonts with bolds, sizes, colors, italics, etc. It has, I have to admit, diminished quite drastically my willingness to post anything other than reviews (which may be considered a good thing from many of your perspectives).

The full reply editor works well enough for such things, I think (see the arrow for the message box).

I have been manually tagging my posts for years. I wrote this in a topic about the unwanted script coming up in posts See here...

--------------------------------

Here is some of the BB code. Remove spaces from tags to make it work, and by quoting this post you can see the code for where I used it:

[ b] Bolded sample text [ /b] to Bolded sample text
[ i] Italicised sample text [ /i] to Italicised sample text
[ u] Underlined text [ /u] to Underlined text

[color = red] Red text [ /color] to Red Text
[color = green] Green text [ /color] to Green text
[color= blue] Blue text [ /color] to Blue text
[color = orange] Orange text [/ color] to Orange Text

[size = 1] Small text [ /size] to Small text
[size = 3] Medium text [ /size] to Medium text

To combine various codes:

[ b] [ i] [ u] [color = red] [size = 1]This combines BB codes but is broken by spaces [ /b] [ /i] [ /u] [ / color] [ /size]
to
This combines BB codes and is unbroken

EDIT: and for images, youtube embeds, hyperlinks and hypertext links.

the darning of the sock

[ tube]RsOxgwF9LlM [ /tube]
to

Note: as some have issues with embedding youtube videos, you just use the unique ID identifier (letters/numbers combination) after v=

------------------------------

For me, I find it easier to read through threads where we don't have various colourful posts with different fonts and different sized fonts, and don't find that aesthetically pleasing. I can find that gaudy and glaring. I much prefer things like colour coding, bold, italics etc. it when it is used sparingly. I don't know what the advantage is to you to do so. For reading back on your posts? Maybe try typing one's posts elsewhere, like in something like Word, and then paste it in.

I saw Tap live on their American tour around '92 or so. Talk about a fun night out with the boys.

That said, I wish they would have left the franchise be. At their age, it's gonna be as painful as watching Keith Richards, Angus Young, and Brian Johnson perform.

Did you mention somewhere recently that we can now post full embedded albums on PA's forums?

Embedding YT videos is easy enough....

but embedding Bandcamp albums is qute a bot more complex, and I'd really like to see that simplified, because it's important for newer bands/artistes.

Rick/Baku/Valdez knows how to do it, so if he could explain it again (please, of course)

Maybe we should retitle this thread so it fits better the content....

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

^ There was never a technical problem with embedding full YouTube albums in PA's forums. It was just a question of whether or not we're now allowed to post full albums in the forums when we weren't allowed before.

^ Or just use the other thread I linked to earlier for now: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=132330 Adding bandcamp vids is easy is one knows how. At one time I might write a specific topic on using those features. I'll post in that other topic for now.

I'll bump that. General note: By the way, discussion about the editor has gone on in several places, so if my consider trying to contact M@X seemed glib, it's something I've discussed a lot and sent him two PMs myself. Others are better at contacting him than me, and M@X had no part to play in my position. We're almost complete strangers.

^^ Yep, I mean if it's an official source it particularly should not be an issue. I would suggest not going "wild" with it (use some discretion).

^^ & ^^^ I saw Spinal Tap live in 1992. Loved that. And think Break Like the Wind is great album. I bought it in 1992, and re-listened to it not long ago and enjoy it more than ever.

So basically we’ve gone from “piracy bad” to “piracy maybe okay if it’s in a YouTube wrapper”?

I don't believe that and have not said that. It's not piracy when its official, and the uploader can allow embedding or not. It is common for artists and labels to provide their music on sites such as bandcamp and youtube. Like it or not, legal streaming is now common.

I bought the vast majority of my CD albums after hearing them first on YouTube. Before going online in 2010, I bought maybe one CD a month. Now though, I buy the equivalent of one CD a day.
