Topic: Portland Reg. Semi Fin 1 - Camel v. Gentle Giant Posted: December 20 2014 at 08:28
From the Symphonic Conference we have.. Camel.
VIDEO From the Eclectic Conference we have.. Gentle Giant!!!
VIDEO Vegas has installed Gentle Giant as a 15 vote favorite. Can Camel pull the upset? Of course they can. Will they? We shall see!

Does the video refer to Camel, Lake & Palmer?

Camel... but if that in the first video is really Camel then my vote goes for Gentle Giant.

now that the axe has been buried with Camel. I can honestly say.. I like some of their stuff. However Gentle Giant is another league ... they get my vote...a perennial 1st division Prog band. No Prog league championships perhaps... but always a threat to occasionally knock off one of the blood blue bands.

However much I love GG (and I used to hate them), Camel just make better music for me.
Not as progressive perhaps, but just nicer to listen to. Camel stirs your emotions like no other band, and they're still around and making great music.
GG never quite made one definitive, perfect album, although Free Hand comes close. They made lots of really good ones and are in my top 10 bands of all time.
Camel made The Snow Goose, and music just doesn't get better than that. Add Mirage, Moonmadness, Nude, Rajaz and A Nod and A Wink and they win by a small bur clear margin.
A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life.

Camel for some of the same reasons Hercules pointed out. They were also one of the very first bands I got into when I was a boy. Edited by HolyMoly - December 20 2014 at 09:03

Good choice using Knots as the sample. When did Camel ever come up with anything even half as interesting?
