Yeah, therte should be a section on this site, where we could include Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and perhaps even Sonic Youth or Rare Earth or even The Velvet Underground

Teenage sucks hard -- Emo sucks even harder
Epic. Simply epic.

All:

When then re-vamp is done (we're looking at late Feb/early March), there is likely to be something of that nature, since so many people seem to want it.  Note that this does not mean that all those bands will ultimately be included on the site.  However, there has been such an "outcry" for a place for these bands (to which I would add Babble and 10CC, among others) that it seems incumbent upon us to provide it.

In the meantime, feel free to continue to discuss it in threads like these!

Peace.

Elton John - Madman Across the Water and Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road, The Who - Quadrophenia?

PROG doesnt have to be some obscure,
inaccessible music geeks listen to because they
have no girl friend. Guess what youll never have a
girlfriend listening to a bunch of half baked bands
and sitting in your room or going to some freakazoid
club with burnouts and neuro patients.

Hendrix, just because he was so talented  I like to see him honorated in a place like this.

Queen, for Queen II and A night at the opera.

Billy Paul, for the War of the gods.

John Mayall, for be a school for so many good artist.

Led zep for the song remains the same, no quarter, aquilles last stand and somo other stuff.

Deep purple, for John Lord works.

But how will those bands be added, completely, only key albums, just the band with a summary. or in a different format than used for the progarchives.

This would be a better discussion topic IMO, then already advancing to the next stage, nominating bands and albums, without knowing how the administrators would have it incorporated with the site.

Could you enlighten us Maani, or Max on how this is being achieved. or is it supposed to be a surprise.

Quadrophenia is definitely a great progressive lp.

one word: Fixx

well, if we have an extra progressive music section, i think it will be broader than the prog rock one.

The last four Black Sabbath albums with Ozzy ('Sabbath Bloody Sabbath', 'Sabotage', 'Technical Ecstasy' and 'Never Say Die') had some very prog moments, very adventurous albums, masterfully recorded and executed, there are no other records out there like them.

Also, I think Blue Oyster Cult, though always firmly in the proto-metal area, were progressive without being "Prog"...plenty of adventurous directions were taken over the course of their '70s and early '80s albums, really interesting band for those into hardrock/proto-metal with subversive lyrical concepts and an overall unique approach. Songs like "Astronomy", "Flaming Telepaths", much of the 'Imaginos' album, "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars", "Unknown Tongue" ...those and more would definitely appeal to some prog fans.

...it is real...it is Rael...

Who's Next is also a progressive masterpiece.

I'll second that - Skylarking beats any 80s album by Genesis, Yes, Elp or Pink Floyd hands down.
