Topic: Any Germans contributing on PA? Posted: June 10 2013 at 13:44 |
I regularly read Reviews to keep up to date on Prog. Considering that the Prog scene in Germany is huge, there are countless reviews on German artists. Except that very rarely done by GERMAN contributors! I am intrigued as why? Do Germans have their own PA, perhaps?

Not too many as far as I can tell.
And what always wondered me, very few are familiar with bands of former GDR. Albums of STERN COMBO MEISSEN, ELECTRA, BAYON and PANTA RHEI are not often reviewed here. It seems that prolific and original rock scene of East Germany is generally unknown for many PA members.
Can't tell about German PA, but there are a couple of good sites (in German) deticated to GDR rock (be it prog or hard rock or blues):

Thanks Eugene, It is true that little is known about bands from East Germany. Perhaps they weren't supported back then for political reasons? What I recall is that back then Pink Floyd's "Atomheart Mother" was available there - in MONO!
Still, I remain puzzled about the lack of German input here. A bit of a mystery, really.

I saw Grobschnitt in Germany. There's tons of German bands represented here. I interviewed two of them.

Rivertree (Uwe) is from Germany, he is a major contributor to PA , as a space/psychedelic expert !

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Colour Haze is a German band that is on PA but barely anybody has heard... a perfect mix of psychedelic/stoner/desert/space rock, with some krautrock influences as well.
|
I consider drone metal to be progressive...

Please explain. I know of Justin Bieber, but never paid any attention to him. Is he a "proggy" by any chance?

Yes, I am aware of Rivertree and I read the reviews with much interest. That's one person and a good contributor. Any more out there?

Far from it.
He's a petulant little snot who has made untold millions appealing to young teenage girls.

Thank you Horizons! Indeed, I an wondering about contributors from Germany here, not actual artists featured
My querry was posted earlier today and so far I've received a handful of intelligent responses and a number of completely irrelevant inputs. The ratio is about 1:3,
Scratching my head, should I have bothered in the first place?

There are several people in Germany who contribute here. A few may see this thread and post here, hard to say. You may want to be more specific with your request. You could also start German Prog Fan Scene thread if you wanted but again, you should provide a strong introduction and describe exactly what it is you're interested in.
