Dear 3Fates - thank you for these pictures! A book of 'Then and Now' would be quite wonderful (and if you centered on the delightful Mr. Lake - well, all the better ) However, those first pictures of DC really brought back my adolescence. And I must say, I love your GL photo montage - spectacular!

i know all about Polly...

And just to let you know whats going on with Dave's ex-wife Ginger.. who was a groupie from Philly...

The other day I was reading something that said they had an art opening with the beautiful works of Ginger Gilmour in the UK... and I'm thinking.. so how many Ginger Gilmours can there be... so I looked at the website..

She's evidently a famous sculptress these days...into spirituality and yoga...and she talks only a little about her time with David... check out her website:

oh that's interesting! thanks threefates!

regarding the groupie duties, it says the young women follow their favorite bands, but when the cities are far away separated, how does the groupie lives! does she sells tickets at the night of the concert? does she acts as a cheerleader, entertaining the crowd? does she just accompanies a single artist at parties, autograph sessions or public promotions events? does she...

Polly Samson is a novelist , Ginger Gilmour is an artist .... both could make Dave melt ! I think they were Dave's inspirations !

Where are you getting the groupie information from... I didn't see that on Ginger's site...

Anyway, I can only speak for myself... altho I was one of the few who actually traveled with bands... most of my friends stayed in NYC and saw those that passed thru... I would often get letters on the road telling me who I missed and who was coming...  I still have all those letters.. maybe those I should publish...

Anyway I usually traveled with one specific band member...I never entertained an audience before a show.. except I have had people in the front rows want to ask me tons of questions when I'm in the orchestra pit...and I have played the cheerleader I guess...  I have attended record co. meetings & promotional events with the band... and I lived by the kindness of he I was with... and to some regards the roadies who I befriended.  Its not an easy deal by any means... its very hard when you're told to go stay in the next room while he bounces with some local groupie... only to be waken up at 3am to come back cause she wasn't "special"... or to lean against the limo and wait till he got his 15-minute BJ before she would climb out and I would climb in... there was some other very special moments... I'm sure you can imagine... but all in all, I wouldn't have passed on it for the world...

I'm not sure I understand -- you've met Dave, and felt Dave?
Can I kill you out of jealousy?
Please tell your story.

The guy standing with Kate Bush way above looks like the singer from Simply Red.  I've always admired Kate Bush also.. not just for her talent but for her sense of putting family first also.

Yes I have met and felt David G ...a couple of times.  The first time in 1975 in NYC... the last time was when I traveled with PF a little on the Animals tour in 1977. I have seen Dave a few times since then, but thats the last touching we did...

And that picture of Dave, Polly and kids was taken at the opening of the first Harry Potter movie a few years ago.  Dave had 4 children by Ginger, and 3 with Polly since 1994.. and he adopted her son, Charlie... that makes 8 kids for Dave!!  Well he can afford them I guess...

so, the ultimate goal of the groupie is to fall in love with a star in order to be famous too and live ultra rich? i think that chances that a groupie makes the ultimate dance are extremely low, due to the fact that there are TONS of beautiful, sexy and kind young women. better buy a lotery ticket! sure you have to give much much more than youth, beauty, intimacy experience and kindness. The competition between each groupie is fierce and being a mega star, that would embarrass me very much...threefates, you are an open book and to read you is very relaxing and pleasant!

If you recall all those wonder years, do you feel nostalgic, threefates?

I'd like to know as well.
I'm so jealous, I would have loved to meet Dave, and ask him to play me Shine On or something. Echoes would be good too. Such a lovely musician. God. I have a crush on a 60 year old.

The funny thing is, I'm in this situation with another David right now, another human being absolutely entranced with progressive music and melodic solos... both guitarists worth bowing to, they have both long blonde hair that I absolutely love.  Poor David Gilmour is hairless now.
