. Bat out of Hell is one of my favorite records. It's almost a damned concept album, really. It's got ten minute long songs and all sorts of spoken word weirdness, but it's primarily wagnerian superpomp theater pop with lots of cool rock and operatic elements tossed in - nods to 1950's dowop and shake yer leg woohoo!
I always thought the concept behind the album was long haired pie muncher wishes to shag lady with large boobs
The music is good, but not remotely the best lyricists in the market.

The lyrics to Bat out of Hell aren't meant to be taken seriously. They're a joke. They're sarcasm - intended to poke fun at all those 'now or nothing, always and forever, turn it up to eleven, rock and roll in my soul, love is eternal' teenagers. IT's a sex-crazed dungeon consortium of baseball game innuendos, cheesy (to the core) spoken word elements, and a ten minute long song about crashing a motorcycle. It's a joke, and I love the lyrics for it.
