I thought your first post was meant as a joke. Progressive!!?? That song  is just four super boring chords going round and round for 9 minutes! It's normal in a live situation to extend songs. There is not a shred of progressive in there, if you ask me. It's the antithesis to prog.

Are you really not joking!?!?

Well duh, hes been there for like 88 years already. He really hit it out of the park in 1978 with his album 'Dudes For Disco', which was all written for 66 violins, 89 tape machines, 33 percussionists, and 168 mellotron players. Six disc set!!!!

Well, you should expect it if you date old girls.

And Timberlake's most progressive work is "Censored in a Box"

most Krautrockers use two chords max and play them way longer than 9 mins. Plus the song we're talking about has the ending part with three more chords

JT may not be prog but if he is doing extended jams with his Suit and Tie swing band I am all ears for that!

I'm just going to pretend that him talking about Zep in an interview got at *least* three people interested in other bands that play long songs. (Yeah... massive long shot)

Call me rude here but I reckon he'll lose most of his screaming little girl fan base this way! Everyone I know who listens to JT has no more of an attention span than that of a pickled egg.
Fair enough if he wants to expand his horizons, but he'll still be producing the same mind-rotting poppy gonk he always does. I mean come on he's working with Timbaland and Jay-Z for heaven's sake!

I'm not so sure his demographic is still screaming teenage girls anymore.  He's in his thirties by now.

Mmmh, he's only been around about ten years, he's heavily promoted. When I go into college I still hear his music around the locker room T__T

My perspective is admittedly pretty skewed.  All the females I encounter in my daily life are either under 7 or over 37.

I work with teenagers and also study along side them, it'll be interesting to gather their feedback on this album. My only real talking point with people in general is ''What kind of music do you like?'' XD

It does look like a desperate attempt to win over a different section of the audience because he may have been losing his usual target audience over the years.  But I won't write him off, without first listening, which I have no intention of doing.  Much better for me to remain indifferent.

As far as mainstream pop goes, I think Justin Timberlake is one of the better singers.  I usually enjoy his stuff when I hear it.  He's also a decent actor.  But there's no way this will be prog.
