He's certainly one of the most interesting modern guitarists out there imo. There's a few others worth mentioning as well, like Reine Fiske and Michio Kurihara, but he's up there with the best of em. 
This album is slowly growing on me. Didn't much care for it when I first heard it though. Listening more to the guitars now, and it's helped immensely in my appreciation of it.
