Good choices there Mr. Ozric. The Turner release is quite wonderful. And Air, well that's one Element I wouldn't want to be without. The disc you mention, played on (*giggle*) air, on SPACE PIRATE RADIO upon release, was an instant listener favourite. Groovy, indeed.
Have you seen them in concert? Some lovely shows here (US), especially with Stereolab. I salute you.

first album of the day.... prior to the meeting last night we hit our favorite local CD store. One of those dying breed of locally owned stores with the strong residue of lingering pot smoke and paraphenellia... not quite to the level of the Octopus Garden which long since had closed but still... one of those great stores with a mix of new CD and 2nd hand that people sell off. Never quite sure what one might find... I actually saw a copy of Biglietto per l'Inferno's debut... sweet..
We were long overdue in getting this album. And the2nd listen.. the first was marred by the 90mph AC on the drive home last night.

Meanwhile:
Irmin Schmidt and Kumo- Axolotl Eyes
Never seen them live. I do have a live recording of them though. A fine duo, I must say. The Virgin Suicides still remains my favourite (haven't spun that for years, either..... ). The track Cassanova 70 is amazing. Was playing along to the bass with it (very simple, but so warm). I actually thought they should be here as 'crossover' but it has been suggested years ago and refused point-blank Forum member (and top-notch reviewer) Aussie Byrd Brother is another, massive, fan of Air.

that sounds interesting What does the singer sound like.. stylistically I mean...
The singer, Stephanie Brown, sings in a deeper voice similar to Stevie Nicks but not quite as gritty.
The band's music is described as palatable psychedelia and old-attitude rock and roll so there's nothing pretty or melodic. She is also quite attractive (see banner on their Bandcamp page).
