^^ hard not to love it. The whole album has an incredible flow to it and there is not one weak track on it.

Also. Over the weekend I gave Ingranaggi Della Valle's In Hoc Signo another spin....I moved this album to #6 for my top albums of 2013. ;) great year for RPI and that comeback album by Alphatauras is next on my list. Good call, Jim!
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

After listening to Alphataurus' AttosecondO yesterday, I then went back to their first album.  Quite a difference in bass playing on the latest album.  The new bass player has more of a Chris Squire flare to his style...

I still love the first album a little more though....

In addition to Maxophone CD from Tokyo there will be also
CDs by Museo Rosenbach and Rovescio della Medaglia (Enzo with RanestRane) from the same Festival.

The original japanese limeted Editions where CD/DVD packages.
Don't know if these are too, but they seem to be remixed.

Yep, the first one will always be the classic, Jim! The new one is a great modern RPI album, although not really much to associate the sound of it with their 70's stuff.

Hey, I hope you and all the other guys in here have a great New Years!

Agreed!  I found only two songs on grooveshark and loved them.  Any place I can listen to the entire album?

Corrado Rustici after the adventure with Cervello become part of Jazz/Fusion band "Nova". Certainly not the same thing but it is possible appreciate again his guitar.
Another out of head listening is Balletto Di Bronzo "Ys". And as Jim said hard for Newbie of Prog, but "5 stars for RPI lovers".

A look back at 2013

This list misses about 100 (or more) Prog Metal Releases and
some I just forgot..

Ingranaggi della Valle - In Hoc Signo (jazzy retro RPI of the highest order, best of 2013)
Tugs - Europa Minor (very good Prog Folk)
Altare Thotemico - Sogno Errando (very strong Jazz Prog like DeM, Area..)
La Maschera Di Cera - Le Porte Del Domani (very good Retro)
Unreal City - La Crudeltà Di Aprile (strong symphonic Prog)
Oxhuitza - Oxhuitza (eclectic instrumental Prog, very good)
PropheXy - Improvviso (very strong (somtimes heavy) Jazz Prog like DeM, Area..)
Homunculus Res - Limiti all'eguaglianza della Parte con il Tutto (somewhat weird album, but I really like it)
Le Maschere di Clara - L'alveare (one of the best RIO Avant bands with strong second album, MP3 only)
La Coscienza di Zeno - Sensitività (nice much calmer second, liked their first one more, still a good one)
Museo Rosenbach - Barbarica (very solid comeback)
ARTI E MESTIERI - The Live (strong live album!)
Progenesi - Ulisse (surprising instrumental keyboard Prog, good!)
IL TEMPIO DELLE CLESSIDRE - alieNatura (somewhat harder, but brilliant second album)
SOPHYA BACCINI'S ARADIA - Big Red Dragon (very good symphonic Prog concept album)
THREE MONKS - The Legend of the Holy Circle (Church Orgaaaaan!!!!)
DESERT WIZARDS - Ravens (good retro psych)
IL SEGNO DEL COMANDO - Il Volto Verde (hard gothic prog with Goblin like Keys and operatic vocals)
Not a good Sign - Not a good Sign (CdZ and Yugen members project, a good one)
PFM In Classic: Da Mozart A Celebration (another strong live effort by legendary band)
Il Cerchio d'Oro - Dedalo e Icaro (nice melodic symphonic Prog)
Camelias Garden - You have a Chance (very melodic symphonic Prog, not my cup of tea)
No Sound - Afterthoughts (haven't heard)
Il fauno di marmo - Canti, racconti e battaglie (harder retro Prog, really good album by ex "The Rebus")
Stormy Six - Benvenuti nel ghetto (new live concept album by legendary band, very good)
Proteo - Republilflucht! (average Prog)
Archangel - Tales of Love and Blood (harder AOR Prog by Ubi Marior members, rather awfull)
RanestRane - A Space Odyssey, part one - Monolith (haven't heard)
Bernardo Lanzetti - Vox 40 (still have to get this one)
Meseglise - L'assenza (Sithonia spin off, (haven't heard))

Phaedra - Beyond the Storm (average Prog)

Aldo Tagliapietra - L'angelo rinchiuso (wow, as good as classic Le Orme)
Hostsonaten - Alive in Theatre (good live album)
Submarine Silence - There's Something Very Strange in her Little Room (very average with awfull vocals)
La Leggenda New Trolls - Concerto Grosso 3 (not bad, still needs more listenings..)
Distillerie di Malto "Suono!" (very very good second after a loooooong time, great!)
Il Rumore Bianco "Mediocrazia" EP (new blood with a 4 track EP. high hopes for this band in the future, get the free download!!!)
Corde Oblique "Per Le Strade Ripetute" (solid as ever Prog Folk, but not their strongest album)
Karmamoi "Odd Trip" (strange mix of heavy pop prog, not sure what to make out of this...)
Oteme "Il Giardino Disincantato" (very strong chamber prog)
Laviantica "Clessidra" (elegant melodic symphonic prog)
L'Albero Del Veleno "Le Radici Del Male" (somewhat like Goblin...)
Gran Torino "Fate of a Thousand Worlds" (average instrumental Prog)

Le Porte Non Aperte - "Golem" (good retro RPI)
Daemonia - Zombi/Dawn of the Dead (heavier remake of Goblin classic, good)
Il Babau & i maledetti cretini - La Maschera Della Morte Rossa (very short but very good second album)

^ Great list! I couldn't think of any other titles that you missed. You have a great knack for finding bands and new releases! Between you and Pierre, we should all have lots of new things to listen to constantly! Thanks!

I agree with your assessments above for the most part, although I liked Camelia's Garden more than you did.

What are your favorites from the year? Top ten maybe? Open question for everyone!

Right now I can say my number one is Ingranaggi della Valle--after that, I'll have to sort some out. I know what would be on the list (Unreal City, Aldo Tagliapietra, Tugs, Distillerie di Malto, etc) but I need to sort out the order.
